I was just wondering how i would go about getting the Basic Knife badge, because it is needed for me to progress to the next rank. I've tried, but i find it EXTREMELY difficult to get 7 knife kills in one game. Even on a 40-50 person server. One time, i played this one round for almost 2 hours and i only got 3 or 4 knife kills. I just find it EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to get 7 knife kills. It used to be 10, but they lowered it to 7, i think they should lower it to 4 or 5. That sounds more practical. Its IMPOSSIBLE to run at a person with a knife without being shot to death. I think they should do-away with the knife badge and replace it with something else.
I thought basic Knife was Five? Oh well, just chase people around until you get it. I'm not gonna suggest you spawn camp, but it does help. Also, sometimes people will be nice and help you out by engaging you knife-knife. And if they do, take the time to thank them when you get the badge.

What? The knife badge is very easy to get. I have gotten 7+ knife kills umteen times. Here are a few things I use:
1) Find someone not looking at you. Follow them until they stop or go prone. You go up to them, go prone and you have a knife kill. This is where you have to put off the mindset of a shooter. Don't shoot the guy in the back, follow him silently.
2) Listen for snipers. Find them and then go out of your way to sneak up from behind or the side. Snipers cannot see too well since they are mainly zoomed in. Easy knife kills.
3) Play Warlord on SF. The palace is an excellent place for knife kills. It takes a little doing, but if you stick with the knife you can kill many. (Got 18+ knife kills twice on Warlord)
4) If you see someone facing you they will probably go prone and start shooting. Run at them in a zigzag. jump and then once you hit the ground go prone. You can usually knife them before you die.
5) Find a server that has longer matches. The longer the game, the more chances for kills.

I have gotten over 20 knife kills twice. Both on Warlord. I have 850 knife kills currently.

My basic/vet knife badges were probably the most fun, frustrating and rewarding few I got to date (possibly ever).
You dont need SF to do it.
I did it on Sharqi.. I found it easier to be MEC than US. 10 total kills and only 3 deaths. I choose the AT kit, for extra armor (either that, or assault). You just need to be sneaky, hide in the shadows and be patient.
The key is to not spawn IN a "hot zone", spawn somewhere a little far off, and WALK to a hot zone.
Once you score a kill, don't hang around, hide. Chances are you p!ss'd off your mark and he/she will come back, be ready for him/her by hiding in such a way that you can see the area but they can't see you.

I suggest playing SF maps since pretty much everybody is on foot. I recommend Iron Gator mainly because that's where I got my expert knife badge and made 8 kills in a row inside the carrier. Because the combat is really close and in-your-face, the enemies have a hard time hitting you with their rifles and crap.
start as USMC on karkand At the start of the round get in the jeep and fly up past the square as fast as you can to them steps thats in between the square & suburb with a bit of look all MEC will be facing towards the USMC base because the round just started giving you the opportunity to get a good few kills this is how i got my basic & Veteran its also works with pistol
No u dont need SF to get knife badges. i got Expert knife on frickin Kubra Dam. all u gotta do is stick around an enemy CP and knife them as they are fighting your team and not looking. u'll prolly die a few times but u'll get it.
this works better if the other team has like 1 or 2 Cp's that way it's a more target rich environment. Also try to play long 64 player games with maybe 30 people in it.
Just keep at it. i've taken out 4 man squads with a knife jsut by sneaking up behind and stabbing the last guy then the next last guy and so on.

Today somone in the forum told me, that i need the badges first, before i get the 20'000. Otherwise I will be stuck at Master Sergeant until 50'000. And as I had 19'250 points I was first a little bit scared. Because I tried it once for 2-3 rounds to get the knife badge..... but the best was 3-5 kills. I always went to prone position before stabbing.
So I knew I had to try it just know for another time. I loged on a karkand map. It was a big, crowed map (64?) whit 300 points and it had just began a few moments ago. But this time i tried to stab the mec in the face while standing and only went prone when there were prone too. And after just halt the tickets were down I had my badge.....
Go to places where it is narrow. So the victims do not have time to shoot you or won't see you comming. Nice situations are, when you stab a enemy at a corner, hide behind the corner, a medic tries to save his friend..... and one more dead. But look out. Once the medic killed me with his paddles instead of reviving the dead soldier.....

I got the basic knife badge without even trying. I'm not a über-1337 knife-hAxXoR, I was just lucky on Sharqui . Now I'm gonna go for the veteran one...

i got mine on karkand with about 9 kills
- i chose a server with only a few people, to get a chance to sneak up at narrow places without being
overrun by hordes of infantry (you need time and patience)
- i took the medic gear, so i could heal myself after being wounded in close combat (knife against machinegun) and without the extra armor, you can follow your opponents sprinting.
- lookout for enemys, which haven´t seen you and try to sneak up behind them
- my enemies went prone to get a better shot on me, so i started to jump and zigzag, until i was close enough to stab
- at least it wasn´t that hard to get..so i´ll try on the veteran badge
