I've always wondered about religion. Specifically Christianity and Islam in terms of people's connection to those religions. The material in those religions is usually based in a completely different world. Whether it's Judea or Arabia. So when I see for example Muslims from Pakistan talking about all the Arab stuff you naturally get with Islam, I'm thinking how can you relate to this. It's a completely alien culture. These Arab names and places and meanings, the same can be said for Christianity and Europe. There's no connection with all the Jewish names and such, especially the OT. They're all set in deserts and they all are based on ancient Middle Eastern indigenous religions. They're not your religion and they never will be, they've come and they've taken over.
Don't they ever stop and think to themselves, why am I following something from thousands of miles away like that. Especially when Shifty or someone does their Bible study, don't they ever stop to think "wtf, all this shit is from the desert talking about Egypt and Syria and Persia and shit, this isn't what I am"
tl'dr - how do Muslims and Christians cope with the fact that their religions are completely based on Arab/Jewish culture which is totally alien in many respects.
I'm not trying to sound like a dick, it's a genuine question about how someone feels about their own identity compared to that of their religion.
