BF2 won't start - HELP

just installed BF2 for the first time in over a year. Installed BF2 then SF then patch 1.5 then AF and EF then patch 1.5 again. When I go to start, it just gives that blinky screen like its trying to resize the resolution and won't start.

specs:

Windows 7 home premium 64-bit
Intel Core i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz
6GB ram
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275
DirectX 11

to many steps in your installation as patch 1.5 now inculdes AF and & EF

unistall and start again.

Try deleting the video folder from my documents profiles, if that don't work try moving the whole profiles folder then move the all the files back and redo video settings manually.

I see you're using Nvidia so this won't apply but could be something similar- I use ATI tray tools and if OSD (the fps counter) is on BF2 won't open at all, it goes to open then does nothing so make sure you haven't got anything similar running to rule it out.

Edit- ah you don't need AF and the other expansion it comes with 1.5. No point installing SF either no one plays it

Probably fixed the problem now, but if not or for anyone else having the same issue, try deleting (or renaming) the Battlefield 2 folder in My Documents.

Then start BF2 and it rebuilds the folder with all default values and it should work fine again!

I also had the same problem, figured it out to be the number of bots.

Copied my settings from previous install on other PC, so yes delete mydocs\bf2 fixes it as well.

I know this is a couple of months old but in case you haven't been able to get it working.

Canadian, I had the same problem. Despite what it says, 1.5 is actually an incremental patch. You'll need to install 1.41 first; 1.5 is missing some shader fixes apparently. Try installing 1.41 then 1.5. Check back and let me know if it worked.

Edit: You probably wont even need to re-install 1.5 if you've already got it installed. Just run the 1.41 set up and it should be fine. That's how it worked for me, and there are no problems whatsoever - it's fully up to date.
