Should've gone with the crappier dorms, tbh. Less time in your room, more time hanging out with tons of new people. The nicer ones for the older students are usually super quiet, inhabitants have already made friends, and it's real boring.

The people in all the shitty dorms have no AC so they're always looking to get out and about, whereas I've always had it (which leads to keeping your door closed so you don't even meet people on your floor, but that's alright since my floors in the past were full of Chinese kids and nerds)mtb0minime wrote:

First few years in college I lived in the shittiest dorms available, way up on top of a massive hill away from everyone else. Needless to say it was the most social dorm there. Unbelievably great times, so many memorable moments and people. Definitely one of the best times of my life.
I'd occasionally visit people in the nicer dorms full of upper-classmen. Boy was that a drag. The places were sterile and reminded me of a hotel. So quiet, so pristine, absolutely nothing going on. I don't know how those people lived with themselves.

Really depends on what school you go to. Some are commuter schools and have very few, if any, dorms. Others have tons and tons of dorms but no parking.
Even though it sucks living with 2 other guys crammed into a tiny room, living in a dorm is one of those experiences every college student should have.
