In a test at Microsoft top console gamers were pitted against mediocre PC gamers. The results proved what we have often laid claim to; that PC gamers would run circles around console gamers.

The program would have let Xbox users play against PC gamers over windows live but was soon canned after the embarrased console gamers probably bitched too much.

But could you imagine if this went out of testing? What if PC gamers could play BFBC2 against Xbox360 players, I can only dream of teh carnage.

Even when using a controller I still do pretty well against people who play nothing but consoles. I'd say it's more than just the physical actions of aiming with a mouse vs. a controller; a lot of these people have no "common sense" (gaming-wise) and no inkling of tactics. Too many years of playing against stupid AI in singleplayer missions makes them treat online humans as equally worthless.

I have found that I tend to do better than friends in halo split screen, despite only playing it at their houses as opposed to how they play it 24/7.

Basically proving what PC gamers already knew. I can testify as to how lethal the keyboard/mouse combo can be just by showing choice youtube clips of Quake 3: Arena twitch rocket sniping while the shooter and target are moving through the air in different directions.

There is simply no way you're going to have the same level of control with a controller as you do with a mouse and keyboard (when playing FPS anyway).

Saying the controller is just as good at FPS or RTS games is like saying high-heels are as good for running as sneakers are.

I mean, it's possible, but it's clumsy, awkward and no where near as effective no matter what the skills of the operator is.

Is it even really about that? PC gamers already know the keyboard and mouse are overall better than console gamepads. I think it proved more to console gamers that k/m is lethal.

For a recent example, I've gotten used to Red Dead Redemption, but a lot of heartache would be solved if I could just use a MOUSE instead of autoaiming with a gamepad and stressing out about how to remember target selection while I'm gunning against six bandits on horseback.

I will give the gamepad credit for being superior when it comes to platformers and certain action games.

True this. I really never played console games much, but my brother in-law and his buddy did, a lot. They asked me to join them playing Goldeneye when it came out. I hated every minute of it really. The whole trying to circle strafe and aim with 2 joysticks was driving me crazy. Of course they were both complaining about not being able to hit me. I think the console trains you to think about what is on the screen only. In PC FPS you really are more in tune with everything around you.
