I dont see why the military does public training sessions.
When you go to boot camp you need to be in shape or you'll get raped. All the guys with the blue shirts are poolees. They are future Marines who are waiting a few months before their ship date and the recruiters PT them to get them in shape. They aren't ordered to do so but they do it anyway to help the future recruits.
Every Tuesday and Thursday from 4 to 6 they bring us out and PT us. It's very helpful. It's public because where the hell else are they going to PT us? Besides it's also advertising. We often run along the beach singing cadences.
