<3 Gooners! you know i'm old school - these new rhymes and poets, i have no chance to know it . . .
rappers are to poetry what bathroom-graffiti is to novels
"As if that blind rage has washed me clean, rid me of hope; for the first time, I that night alive with signs and stars, I opened myself to the gentle indifference of the world. Finding it so much life myself - so like a brother, really - I felt that I had been happy and that I was happy again. For everything to be consummated, for me to feel less alone, I had only to wish that there be a large crowd of spectators the day of my execution and that they greet me with cries of hate."
i will never tire of reading this book to get to sleep at night

ok...this is embarrassing but...
What made me seek out(on my own) and appreciate Shakespeare was the Romeo and Juliet movie with Leo DiCaprio...
I actually started reading it on my own and was able to envision and understand the story a little better(mind you I was a freshman in HS...I think). I think it helped make it seem less stuffy...
It didn't hurt that I had a major crush on Leo and pictured him as Romeo the whole time...
phew...glad I got that off my chest...

you must not be well endowed, because your public naming of Leonardo on your "list" outweighed you posting it to a gaming forum . . .tuckergustav wrote:

it's good that modern-mediums and modern (re)interpretations of shakespeare keep people interested. his works should be read and passed down from generation to generation -- why redo the love tale or the lover's tragedy when he's pretty much perfected it 400 years ago? the modern remake is pretty good, too. i enjoyed it, anyway. there's modern remakes of lots of his plays; stage production and proper-film, check them out!
i love the ian mckellen king lear. fucking awesome.

but they did an episode that was titled "The Taming of the Shrew" and it let the title actors quote Shakespeare verbatim, set in modern times . . .

GODDAMNKING LEAR
Blow, winds, and crack your cheeks! rage! blow!
You cataracts and hurricanoes, spout
Till you have drench'd our steeples, drown'd the cocks!
You sulphurous and thought-executing fires,
Vaunt-couriers to oak-cleaving thunderbolts,
Singe my white head! And thou, all-shaking thunder,
Smite flat the thick rotundity o' the world!
Crack nature's moulds, an germens spill at once,
That make ingrateful man!
