Scenario: You and four others are standing in a hall. The guards come in, bringing in a prisoner, several officials and a priest. Then, a man in orange. The priest says a small prayer for the man in orange, and one of the officials coomands you to stand at attention. You stand up straight, raise your rifles, and shoot.

Could you do this, even if two blanks are in the rifles? Would you think you're carrying out justice, or just an order? Or might you back away?

I believe I could. The thing is an execution is just killing someone and killing someone is easy. If your asking whether my concious would suffer then I'd have to answer probably not. Can't know for sure of course.

The killing is the easy part of the whole process. The hard part is the waiting, the appeals upon appeals, the rest of the legal processes, clemency hearings the irrevicable harm it does to the convicted man's family and in most cases the families of their victims as well. Pulling a trigger? Injecting poison into a man's bloodstream? Flicking a switch from "alive" to "dead"? Simple.

2nd question: are we shooting from the hall or on a firing line???

3rd question: the man in orange is a convicted criminal scheduled to die???

4th question: is this a prison or concentration camp???

5th question: what country???

6th question: blanks have no kick as oppose to a projectile round, so the shooter will know if he/she fired the round. what's the point of the firing the blanks???

Nah I don't think so. I mean, maybe heat-of-the-moment type thing, like I just had a shoot-out with a bunch of guys who killed my family, and then one is still alive on the ground so I pop him in the head type thing, but I don't think I could just shoot someone.

My attitude is yes I could and would prefer to have the gun with the real bullet in it. However, having not been placed in a situation like that, I really do not know.

I can say with great certaintly though, if he were breaking into my home, for whatever reason, (yes, even to steal my big screen), he had better shoot me first, for I have no doubts that I will shoot him.

I think I'd be caught up by the heat of the moment. But to kill someone in cold blood, no matter what they did, it'd weigh on my conciense.

If they broke into my house though, I'd probably call the cops and run, or if he/she threatened my family, I'd grab my laptop or a candlestick and bludgeon the guy.

if you are worried about the morality, then find another occupation that does not require to carry/use a firearm. become a florist and let someone else do the "dirty" work
