That's not objective. There's plenty of people who like ETW/NTW. You just gotta not mind guns.

Shogun is pretty good, I'm enjoying enough. I'm really glad that cavalry aren't as godmode in this as they have been in previous games. I think a lot of it comes down to how awesome yari ashigaru are, and how expensive cav is.

i only use cav. for running down fleeing enemies
or smashing a flank from a treeline
