I don't mean just posting some pictures on the internet and then getting drunk by the grill. Do you actually take some time to think about our veterans, or is it an excuse to skip work and have a barbecue?

Null vote: both.

My grandfather is a WW2 vet, so I spent some time with him yesterday, but I also enjoy my time off.

My service was with the Canadian Army.
Nov 11th is the day for the British Commonwealth, called Remembrance Day. And NO it is not a holiday.

It means a lot to me. I have lots of friends serving in Afghanistan right now.

I believe it is called Veterans day in the US. And it is a holiday there. In the UK it isn't but most people consider Remembrance Sunday to be the main date of remembrance.

In the UK there's also Armed Forces Day on June 27th, but that is NOT a holiday.

No. Maybe you don't remember correctly cos you never learned it in the first place?

Veteran's Day is to remember all Vets.

Memorial Day is to remember those who served who did not survive their service--those who gave "the last full measure of devotion".

Two separate and distinct events for me, and I commemorate both, because both have significant meaning for me.
