Yeah its pretty good, its somewhere between Anno and Caesar in terms of complexity. Takes a while to learn all the different things you need to manage, like ensuring a profit, happiness of the population, liberty, respect of factions, etc. Often I resort to the same opening tactic, seeing as you start with little money its best to get some mining production going if you can, different ores give large amounts of money without needing some kind of processing, unlike tabacco and things like that. they are limited though, so you can use them to get the money flowing in and then you can develop your island and start building cigarette factories and rum distillery etc.

Certainly enjoying it more than most other games in the genre.

Been playing the lsat 4 hours. It´s really nice. Awesome music.
I fail hard in economy though. Had to restart about 4 times and the last game went real good for some time, but now the crime is taking over, rebels are massing, I barely survived an assassination attempt, a hurricane blew away some people and buildings and the Llama Flu is ravaging my quarantined island. Lol, really great fun!

Try the War Hero background, helps with the rebels somewhat which are a nuisance in the beginning. Also build factories, I was getting about 70k income every time the ship left with just Tobacco and cigars.

T3 is one of those games where you'll probably junk your first city and restart. It's kind of hard to predict where buildings will be useful.

I played the demo. I think I pissed my wife off because its kinda a time sink game. Probably won't buy the full version, though it was kinda fun.

It´s really fun. I got the hang of it now. Trashed the last city

The trick is to equally space out everything. Building houses near workplaces and adding entertainment, safety and churches.
I´m playing a pro democratic, world open character now. A charming, sociable one, who learned his profession in the hotel business and made his career with booze. He´s a raging alcoholic with anger management issues though, too.
Love the character qualities!

Dropped another 3 hours into it, time´s wasting with this game!

Yeah housing should be grouped with entertainment, churches, police and doctors. The next to the palace should be immigration, foreign office, etc. Away from the city slightly should be armoury and base, towers should be near far out buildings, garages absolutely everywhere accept near mines if they are on their own. Industry like factories always next to farms, next to the docks if possible.

That is the best layout ive found.

Not sure if I will play it again, I feel like I have experienced what there is to experience. Especially as things like US invasions and pope visits dont actually happen in realtime, you are just told they do. Did enjoy it while I played it though. Worth $7.50, I guess if I was a city builder nut I would play it again. The character design is really cool, and how he actually walks around and fights.

Did you complete all the scenarios then? I think once ive done that ill probably put it down too. These kinda games are only good if you have some kind of goal anyway.

Every city sim I've come across is too micromanagerial. I'd like one where citizens actually voted on laws and measures, and all I had to do was manage utilities, roads, and zoning, and just sit back and watch private contractors come in and build stuff for private businesses.

In other words, everything Sim City is not.

edit: Hearts of Iron 3 is a step in the right direction as far as reducing micro goes. It allows you to set the AI to take care of anything you don't want to handle. Too bad the game lags during war.

Dunno about the invasion. I started a game yesterday as a mean dictator, shooting protestors and giving a shit about the needs of the people, just exploiting labour and resources.
After a few years events went outta control. Rebellion, Coup d´Etat and US Cruisers circling my Island.
The dissidents blew up my palace before the US could launch an invasion though, lol. Are there no troops landing or anything?

edit: Something else, does anyone not hear the speeches and random radio news, too? A friend of mine plays the game in german, and he gets regular news flashes and all the speeches he´s holding via audio. I play in english and get nothing?
