what was your point in mentioning MIT anyway?

a school that doesn't try to desperately be an english classic? MIT is to america what imperial college is to england, tbh. specialist, slightly different ethos and prospectus from everything else in its field. although... afaik berkeley is also good for sciences and abstract subjects? to be honest the attractive elements of the ivy league for international students are your masters schools, and that's only because of the brand-power they have in the states themselves. over here we have the London School of Economics or Oxbridge which are the equivalent 'finishing' colleges for the business-minded.

lol MIT is the world leader in natural science/engineering schools, period. To not differentiate greatly between bullshit ivy league schools and MIT is to know nothing about our higher exducation system.

fm i wasn't equating MIT with ivy at all. i was asking why you brought it up. i don't see any similarities - i said it is loosely comparable to our imperial college. so hold your horses and get off the soapbox. talk about fame and prestige bringing people to schools... that's what 25% of the UK's universities are based on (the old classic ones, from redbrick era and earlier). the original ivy league, beeeotch.
