At lest seven people, including some from Michigan, have been arrested in raids by a FBI-led Joint Terrorism Task Force in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana as part of an investigation into an Adrian-based Christian militia group, a person familiar with the matter said.

The suspects are expected to make an initial appearance in U.S. District Court in Detroit on Monday.

On Sunday, the FBI confirmed that federal law enforcement agents were conducting activities in Washtenaw and Lenawee counties over the weekend in connection to Hutaree, a Christian militia group. FBI Special Agent Sandra Berchtold told The Detroit News the federal warrants in the case are under court seal and declined further comment.

Sources have said the FBI was in the second day of raids around the southeastern Michigan city of Adrian that are connected to a militia group, known as the Hutaree, an Adrian-based group whose members describe themselves as Christian soldiers preparing for the arrival and battle with the anti-Christ.

WXYZ-TV reports that helicopters were spotted in the sky for much of Saturday night, and agents set up checkpoints throughout the area. Witnesses told the station that it was like a small army had descended on the area. The Department of Homeland Security and the Joint Terrorism Task Force are also involved in the raids.

Mike Lackomar, of Michiganmilitia.com, said both The Southeast Michigan Volunteer Militia and the Michiganmilitia.com were not a part of the raid.

Lackomar said he heard from other militia members that the FBI targeted the Hutaree after its members made threats of violence against Islamic organizations.

Well it turned out better than Waco, I guess.

Except that Christianity is really all about emulating Christ, and Christ wouldn't do something like this. So these people are actually doing the exact opposite of what it means to be Christian.

I think it is only fair that we put all White-American born Christians in a camp(similar to the Japanese) since they destroyed two government buildings. I'm sure they can share a cage with the Muslims.

On the flipside, though...  How often have Christian groups engaged in terror in America over the last decade versus Islamic groups?

Obviously, Christianity has equal potential for terror, but in practice, Islamic groups seem to do it more often.

Right now I'm more scared of those Christian ultra-rightwing nutjobs who are sending death threats and being arrested by the FBI than Jihad Joe.

In America? More than any Islamist groups I'm certain. The only organised terrorist attack (apart from the crazy individual people) by teh mooslims was 9/11 right?

In any case the chances of anything happening to any one person are minisicule, but it's OK to think there will be something..for the FEAR.

Much like everyone else in the modern Christian world. Just finished rereading the four gospels and can confirm that it's basically communism without the work ethic.

I'll root out a few quotes seen as it's fresh:

"And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well.... Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you."

"Do not store up for yourself treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.... No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money."

"So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'. For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself."

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be open to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks; the door will be opened."

"If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven."

"I tell you the truth it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God".

That's just a hastily prepared sample from the Book of Matthew! Need I go on?

My point is that religions usually aren't all that bad in and of themselves. It's just that they are always used to manipulate others.
The Gospel's could be made up for all I care, but some of the lessons they teach are great. The New Testament wasn't even written till what, they started like 50 years after Jesus' death. Then you have many many translations that have changed the book, especially during the Middle Ages when the Church was corrupt as hell and the Bible was basically translated however someone wanted it. It wouldn't have been that hard for a priest to just add in some things here and there in the NT. Can't trust what they say, also have to take it in context. Some of what is said has no application today.

If these people actually acted like how Jesus is portrayed, as a peaceful, caring, nonviolent person, then we wouldn't have this problem.
Catholic's and others shouldn't even have an organized church. Religion, at least Christianity, is a personal religion. We don't need to go to Mass every Sunday or go to hell. It's our faith, it doesn't need to be validated by dumbass sacraments.

Now unless we make a time machine we will never truly know what happened in those times, if Jesus even died on the cross, or if he even existed. but if people were to emulate the image of how we portray Jesus, the world would be more peaceful and untanding, or so I would hope
I hope there was a point in there somewhere. bah

I don't know about communism though. Guess I'll have to read mai Bible. But like I said, who knows what has been added over 1900 years to the New Testament and how much actually happened.

Charity = communism?
I will say that some of the early members of the Christian church did practice communism, but that's hardly the same as the religion being communism.

Also, your quote about not worrying about material goods isn't saying "Be a bum. Someone will give you stuff."  Obviously, being dedicated to getting stuff was frowned upon, but I don't think it was implying people shouldn't work.
