Fuck you devs, fuck you.

Why must I patch your fucking game when I only want to play it offline?

Anybody else out there hate this? And yes it is a major problem because I use free internets provided by somebody else, as a consequence they are fucking slow internets. Fast enough to game online on, but only just. My dl speed sucks ass.

I dont like it either. Even multiplayer, there is often reasons for wanting to play previous versions of the game.

If I had to choose between say Steam and auto updates and no Steam and manual updates, I would choose Steam. In your situation though, I would not.

Yeah, fair enough don't let people play online if they haven't got the newest patch. But they shouldn't be forced.

I thought (on steam anyway) to be able to play a games like, lets say portal (a single player game) you had to have it updated?

I have no idea if that's just multiplayer or single player. I don't know why they would even have the option if you couldn't play it unpatched.

I thought that it just meant it didn't update automatically, but then updates if you attempt to launch it?

Yeah but then you can cancel the update when it tries to run I THINK.

Not a whole lot of experience trying to stop games from updating, with my awesome American internet.

Tis a Relic game FM. With CoH if your pc was connected to the net it would force you to patch before playing. DoW2 is similar, though via steam.

Also, fyi my internet is unusually slow for Australia, because unlike the rest of the members, I live in the far North of the country and I cbf paying the parents extra to get a better plan when I'm away for 6 months or more of the year. (not even sure if they can get a better plan, given the infrastructure up here)

Wouldn't be a huge issue except the old man has a habit of turning this PC off if he wakes up at 2am and finds it downloading... and he's up at 2 or 3am pretty much every night.

I seem to remember being able to hit skip or cancel when playing the non-steam CoH when all I wanted to do was the campaign.

Well, it gave me two options.

Login to account to play, which meant patching, or exiting the game. In any case, CoH isn't the issue. That was no biggy. It's DoW2. Ffs.

I can see why playing an older version of the game is something you or anyone would want to do. But some of those patches remove crashes and bugs and errors, etc. Wouldn't that suck if you chose not to update your game, and then it later crashed, causing you to lose all your progress, and this had been a known issue that was fixed?

Dude, I dont' care.

I. Just. Want. To. Play. The. Game.

Btw most of it is extra multiplayer content. Which I probs wont use before I go offline for 6 months for work.
