LMAO cos the republicans have behaved completely properly, not at all like little bitches? lol right.
That's not the issue. Does the fact that one side behaved like little bitches make it OK for the other to behave like this? Absolutely not. In fact, the opposite is true. They were elected for "change" not "more of the same, but with the pedal down and damn the consequences".

Look at the behavior, not what they are trying to do legislatively. You can agree or disagree with their agenda, but look at their behavior as a separate issue objectively and you'll see what I'm talking about. The method they chose to use to pass this legislation, the "in your face" approach to the people who are protesting (those would be "the people"), comments regarding Constitutional limits on Congressional power...it's quite Orwellian in some cases.

It goes both ways ... both dems and reps behaves like spoiled little children, both sides have lost their goal of making the US a better place for it's citizens ...

It's an ongoing spiral of distrust that plunges deeper and deeper into a political abyss ... who started it and why is beyond interesting when your population is suffering from the political standoff in congress ... your political parties is more about destroying the other ones political agenda than trying to reach a common ground ...

Your congress needs to remember the basic ideas of representing the people ...

They're removing 'caps' on lifetime benefits per plan. The caps were really generous before but the insurance companies now have to plan for higher costs overall now. Rates will rise.

Insurance companies will be forced to take on all comers regardless of whether they have stage 3 cancer or not. Because one can not predict who ones customers will be... rates will rise.

The government is going to subsidize health insurance for the 'poor' (the definition of poor here is very, very large). Subsidies raise costs because companies know everyone has $2500 extra or so sitting in their pocket that can only be used for insurance. Rates will rise.

Because they are cutting Medicare funding, more senior citizens will stick with the insurance plans they had earlier in life. Because old people are unhealthy and will be sitting in the pool with the rest of us... rates will rise.

Noticing a pattern here? It's basic economics and the Democratic party just spent a year lying to the American public and telling them that they will lower the cost of health insurance. The system really wasn't broken. Now it is.

FYI, this system is essentially a carbon copy of the one implemented in the State of Massachusetts. Rates doubled there within five years of it's enactment.

On what page is this mentioned?
Sec. 501. Tax on individuals without acceptable health care coverage.

Call it whatever you want, it's still a fine.

‘‘(a) TAX IMPOSED.—In the case of any individual
4 who does not meet the requirements of subsection (d) at
5 any time during the taxable year, there is hereby imposed
6 a tax equal to 2.5 percent of the excess of—
7 ‘‘(1) the taxpayer’s modified adjusted gross in8
come for the taxable year, over
9 ‘‘(2) the amount of gross income specified in
10 section 6012(a)(1) with respect to the taxpayer.
11 ‘‘(b) LIMITATIONS.—
12 ‘‘(1) TAX LIMITED TO AVERAGE PREMIUM.—
13 ‘‘(A) IN GENERAL.—The tax imposed
14 under subsection (a) with respect to any tax15
payer for any taxable year shall not exceed the
16 applicable national average premium for such

It forces people to buy health care. I hope the Supreme Court would throw this out.

Yup, the Republicant were up to their old tricks of scare tactics, doom and gloom predictions and inciting the mob... very shameful indeed.
One thing for sure at least the Dem "fags" are out in the open... unlike the GOP "fags"

IMO the 60 vote super majority in the senate is BS and its evil and "demon-cratic" ... but its supposed to be some sort of tradition so the Dems have already done alot to follow the parliamentary procedures.... If it were me I would have dumped that 60 vote crap.

As for the house action... well now its law and now if the GOP succeeds in stopping it they will be blamed for taking away health insurance reform... its actually pretty smart tactically.

BTW you should read some of the comments from David Frum... he's an conservative who basically has this one pegged... the only winners are the media commentary people and its their voice that's hijecked the GOP. And the GOP made a tactically error when bonehead Boehner and the group decided to follow scorched earth and to scuttle the bill as their only tactic.... that was a huge error. IMO What the GOP should have did was to tell Rush and Beck to STFU and then sit down in earnest and negotiate... that's what a majority of people wanted and that would have gotten a lot of the pork and back room deals out of the bill... then the GOP could have claimed a fiscal hawk victory... instead they went down with the ship along with Captain Bligh Beck and Captain Hook Rush....

With cutlass and gun,
O we fought for hours three;
Blow high! Blow low! And so sailed we.
The ship it was their "our" coffin
And their "our" grave it was the sea.

A few things

1) Maybe I'm thinking overly simplistically... but the healthcare tax on a family with an income of $50,000 would be like $1,250. They can either choose to buy healthcare from an insurance company, or pay that tax and use Medicare (right?). So insurance companies will raise their premiums, but will have an incentive to keep from raising them too high

2) I read somewhere that if you use less 20% of your coverage in the year, you get refunded the other 80%... or something like that... can anyone confirm?

1) Isn't medicare only for the elderly? As far as I know the 2.5% tax is more of a fine than anything else...

2) Ughh doing essay now but just ctrl f on the bill
