Activision reveals non-FPS Call of Duty title due in 2011

In addition to forming a new body for CoD, Activision has revealed plans to expand the franchise with a new non-FPS title. Sledgehammer Games, headed by Dead Space veterans Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey, will undertake development of the upcoming action adventure title, due in 2011.

Going by the Dead Space reference, looks like it may be a TPS, and a RTS would just fail up against CnC and Supreme Commander and the rest of the mass of epicly good RTS games. Still seems like an odd idea though.

I thought Treyarch (guys who made WaW) are also making the next CoD, set in Vietnam. If they go down the same brutal route of WaW, this game should be good. I don't know why people slated WaW. The maps were good, better than MW2's maps. Weapons felt good. They weren't noobtacular. Well most of them. SP was fantastic.

Probably the best WW2 game.

Arguably it went downhill with CoD 2. I remember being part of the PC community and shit, how much angst there was over CoD 2. There wasn't even PB support in the beginning. You could do console commands which enable you to cheat in MP (texture changes, make players glow and shit). The lag was pretty bad. Weapons had (and still do) crappy noob recoil. Initially the crosshairs were thick console crosshairs until they patched it. Essentially it was quite a bad X360 port. No sprint either. Gameplay-wise, it was a massive step back from CoD UO.

The worst thing was this was one of the first CoD/games to do that to the PC market in terms of the crappy console port/consoleised game. So there was quite alot of anger. Especially since back then it's not like consoles/X360 was as huge as it is today. Not in the multiplayer FPS segment. PC was still king, but it was the beginning of the decline.

Besides I don't regard myself as 'pro'. 'Pro' is a stupid term, which I make fun of by using it in a sarcastic manor (pr0). To be 'pro' or 'professional' at something, you had to get paid to do it. I didn't get paid to play CoD4. I was, however, above the skill-level of the average pubber. Also, the competitive scene for CoD4 was just that - competitive. How much experience do you have of it?
