Seeing as I do have time for this since I'm unemployed, I thought I'd give this a shot. It also gives me a chance to learn more about hardware as I'm not brilliant with it tbh.


Thought I'd get round to doing this now, since I'm looking to upgrade myself. Gonna split it into several parts: CPU, Mobo, GPU, PSU, RAM, HSF, HDD/SDD, Case.
After that, I'll split it into 3 further categories: Budget, Mid-Price, Money no object.

I started one too. Build up a "budget" spec PC, got bored and didn't do the rest.

Also, PC mags and websites do this every couple of years anyway.

Fastest affordable HDDs = Samsung Spinpoint F3's (The F1's are rock-solid & nearly as fast aswell)

Brands worth getting imo:
ASUS (Mobo & GPU), Sapphire (ATi GPU), Corsair (RAM & PSU)

...and the more "votes" this setup gets, the higher it gets in the hierarchy.
A mix of objectivity (tests,charts,reviews) and democracy.
