AA sucked in BF2, that was the problem. If it was supposed to be rock-paper-scissors balancing:

Tank < Chopper < AA < Tank on and on...

AA died just as easily as a tank, which made it difficult to take down a chopper. Maybe having a MANPADS (aka portable stinger missile) kit would have helped.

AA just needed that stupid dish to work, to make all aircraft above radar level visible on the map to the AA driver.  And then remove the Airplanes "see all manned vehicles" radar.

I'd like to see at least a stats thing similar to what 2142 had. That was a very fair points thing. You won extra points whenever you reached an achievement and it didn't take weeks or months to level up to be able to unlock weapons and equipment.

Anyone have a rumor on when this thing is going to be hitting shelves? Maybe Christmastime?

You could circle with both of them facing almost completely downwards and never crash. Try that in Vanilla with a cobra, or better yet a Havoc.

I dont see how BF3 could be anything more than BC2 with planes and more vehicles on slightly larger maps honestly.

I always thought it was rather amazing that in SF you could end up circle strafing in a very very tight circle while looking directly at the ground. It made my head asplode.

Also the SF Apache was the best BF2 copter.

I enjoy raping people with a tank or heli.  That was a lot of fun with BF2.  However, when they introduced I/O to BF2 with the 1.3 or 1.4 patch (I forget), it brought a new way to play the game.  Spam nading aside, it was good times being able to see which people were actually able to shoot someone without using a vehicle.  Perhaps it is because of my BHD/DF2 background that I enjoyed I/O so much.  That being said, I would be disappointed if they did not include some sort of IO component in BF3.  It's not necessarily a deal breaker but I would definitely be disappointed.

Infantry Only is not the real BF2. If I wanted to play a game like that I'd play CSS, CoD4 etc... Battlefield 2 is so unique in the way you can mix it up and the way everything is so balanced, as in you could go in the jet, heli, tank, or inf and still get a ridiculous score depending on your skill/teams skill. People who moan about unbalance in BF2 are stupid, and people who play BF2 for the IO are even stupider. And don't get me started on people who like to be unique by using a different color text...

They need to make bf3 like bf2 1.2 or even the final fixed 1.3 but with servers with the option of "inf only no explosives" or even just c4 explosives. it would be a way to stop the gay fucking claywhoring and nade spamming.

SF choppers were much less maneuverable than BF2's, their movement was just SO broken you could do one or two strange moves with them, for the rest they were a complete step down from BF2. haven't you played sf?

Well they had to do something to nerf pilots. Very rarely could you ever see someone go 25-1 in a tank but it happened regularly in choppers and planes. Yes, it took skill for a pilot to go 25-1 but even the most hardcore pilot should surely be able to see that they were massively overpowered with no natural counter.

Flying is the most fun you can have in the game, no doubt, and I'm not suggesting that a plane should be brought down with an AK-47, but they did the game a disservice when they didn't implement an effective counter. Helicopters especially have been vulnerable since halfway through Vietnam when Hueys were getting shot down on a daily basis. This should've been reflected in the game better.
