When trying to win a debate, it's probably best not to mention that.

Well, if you hate the big two, you can always vote third party...  I voted Nader in 2000.

What?  That I actually voted?  Good point...  in hindsight, it was a waste of time.

The Electoral College chooses the president, so admittedly, voting for any presidential candidate is rather irrelevant.

No...that you voted for Nader.

The Electoral College chooses the President based on the popular vote in their district, so the votes cast are quite relevant. You're just bent out of shape because the EC prevents straight popular vote from ruling the day...as it was designed to do.

Getting off topic... but we're pretty close to doing away with the EC altogether.

- Sent a merchant ship full of civillians across the Atlantic even though the german press warned they would be destroyed if they did to start WW1
- new about the japanese fleet days before pearl harbour but did nothing to enter WW2
- said that north vietnam had attacks US patrol boats to start the vietnam conflict - even though its now known that it never even happened.
- WMD?  they never even existed as we all know now, planes crashes that don't leave rubble - to enter IRAQ and AFGHANISTAN
- a quick earth quake to practice a new shiny weapon and invade another country , I would'nt put it past them, then again it could be all bollocks and the US Has a LARGE military presence there to help , I know i like to think so

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has deployed troops to areas near the Colombian border and says he is reviewing plans for a potential war as tension between the two nations rises.

If Columbia would just turn over their TV/News stations to Chavez I'm sure he would be just fine.

The key difference is that Colombia's military knows how to use theirs. And does...regularly.

the only significant thing the venezuelan military has done within the last few decades are military coups as far as i know.  colombia has been fighting narco terrorist and marxist guerrillas longer than anyone posting here has been alive.

The man speaks truth.

Having neat toys and actually being able to use them...two completely different things.

Agreed, but, its not like the Colombians really have any experience in conventional warfare, and reportedly (wiki ftw), the Venezuelan military is rather well trained and led(not including the very high levels). Should be an interesting match until we jump in, if it ever happened anyways.
