New York City.

FUCK YES.

I don't know why and I don't know how, but I feel like an urban setting like that is going to kick ass and make Crysis 2 10x better than Crysis 1. I'm getting it on the 360 so I'll actually be able to play it above 10 frames per second too!

Shame you'll be using a different engine.

I can't see how they're going to recreate Crysis's unique feeling in New York.

I'm talking about the feeling where you're playing the game on Delta mode, you've just made a cloaked dash from one side of a road to the other after dispatching some guys, you're hiding in the bushes and suddenly realise there's a platoon of about 5 guys walking towards you (who out gun you in a straight fight), and you have no suit power left.

Not only will that be impossible in New York, but also the whole thing the game has going for it, the completely open ended firefights, will be hard to recreate in a narrow street. I can't imagine being able to have the same great stealthy feeling that I had with trees and small huts, in a narrow and very empty New York street.

Obviously, New York will be very different from what it currently looks like. Buildings will be completely frozen and probably also all over the ground. Who knows yet.

So yes. I'm certainly extremely interested in the new direction, but cautiously interested. Hopefully they're not making a Far Cry 2 move here.

Surely a city of big static empty boxes is far easier to render than a jungle of incredibly complicated and constantly moving trees?

Man this game is going to be amazing. Wonder if its all aliens and just different types, or if you'll actually fight some humans again.

Well there was no way in hell they were going to get the crysis 2 looking like the first and with huge open jungle enviroments while running with playable frames on consoles. Their solution? Box everything in.

If it's more linear then warhead, I think I'll pass.

Hopefully it's awesome, I got money sitting in the wallet waiting for great game releases for pc.

Spoiler (highlight to read):
Will it at least detail what happens when you go back to the island at the end of Crysis 1? I was looking forward to that...

I would assume most Crysis 2 players won't have played Crysis 1

very few of my mates could run Crysis 1 at 50 fps. ... hope they optimized Crysis 2. suffers the same problem as supreme commander

the snow levels in crysis were horribly optimized, I went from 50+ fps in the jungle to a slide show just looking at the frozen boat

Saw this in PC Gamer.

Said something about "A different kind of Jungle" and "A entirely new yet familiar setting", and had a picture of what looked to be central park.

So ya, I enjoyed the first one I guess, this one will be pretty cool too I hope (and I hope I can run it )

Yeah the boat was bad, oddly, I did better in the snow levels, than when looking at the boat.

Nice.

Thank god console versions are in the works, I won't be getting a gaming rig anytime soon.

It should run quite nice on the consoles but probably won't look that great. Although they do have the advantage of only really having to aim for 30fps @ 720p more or less. Whereas you fags are aiming for 60fps @ 2560x1600 or Eyefinity multiple monitors and all that nonsense, and expect a $50 video card to do it all
