I can't see how they're going to recreate Crysis's unique feeling in New York.
I'm talking about the feeling where you're playing the game on Delta mode, you've just made a cloaked dash from one side of a road to the other after dispatching some guys, you're hiding in the bushes and suddenly realise there's a platoon of about 5 guys walking towards you (who out gun you in a straight fight), and you have no suit power left.
Not only will that be impossible in New York, but also the whole thing the game has going for it, the completely open ended firefights, will be hard to recreate in a narrow street. I can't imagine being able to have the same great stealthy feeling that I had with trees and small huts, in a narrow and very empty New York street.
Obviously, New York will be very different from what it currently looks like. Buildings will be completely frozen and probably also all over the ground. Who knows yet.
So yes. I'm certainly extremely interested in the new direction, but cautiously interested. Hopefully they're not making a Far Cry 2 move here.

We know the island was already enough of a bitch to run, imagine NYC..
lol..
Surely a city of big static empty boxes is far easier to render than a jungle of incredibly complicated and constantly moving trees?
