A Spanish politician has said he was shocked to find out the FBI had used his photo for a digitally-altered image showing how Osama Bin Laden might look.
The Spanish newspaper El Mundo said an FBI spokesman had admitted the agency had taken a picture from Google Images.

The digitally-altered photos of the al-Qaeda leader, showing how he might look now, aged 52, were issued by the US state department on Friday.
The FBI claimed to have used "cutting edge" technology, but Mr Llamazares said it showed the "low level" of US intelligence services and could cause problems if he was wrongly identified as the Saudi.

They're both 52 which is probably where the link comes from. I bet one of the FBI goons just typed in 52 year old man in google or something and got his image, then used it to make the photo of Bin Laden at 52 years of age. Real stupid on their behalf.

Personally I think Bin Laden's dead anyway, I was watching this documentary on the BBC about whether he's dead or not, it even had Delta Force people and shit in the program, lots of Gov officials, it was well balanced, but they all mostly admitted that at the very least, they screwed up massively especially during Tora Bora.

But the main talking point about this is how the FBI were so amateurish with the whole thing, I mean seriously, this is weak for something quite serious.

What I'd like to know is how this got out.  Had I not read this story and only looked at the 2 pictures together, I would've never made the connection.

Well... things get around really fast these days. Obviously someone was bound to recognise or maybe it was himself that saw it and realised. It's the internet

I suppose...  but I'm just saying.  This seems more like someone literally brought this to his attention and said, "by the way, the FBI used this picture of you to make this."

It seems rather unlikely that he would automatically see the similarity in the pictures.  It just seems too random.

Yeah, but it's not exactly a unique haircut.

I have no idea. I can tell you one thing though, I'm pretty sure Bin Laden is going to look absolutely fucking nothing like that. If anything, just an older, greyer version of the first photo.

Well yeah, but it would have been a dead give away if the FBI just took a picture of him at Gitmo and published that.

You'd think it would be prudent to simply ask the guy first if they could use his image.

Or at the very least, the website owner it was taken from. "Google images" is not a source.

Gaspar Llamazares said he would no longer feel safe travelling to the US after his hair and parts of his face appeared on a most-wanted poster.
"I was surprised and angered because it's the most shameless use of a real person to make up the image of a terrorist," he told a news conference.

"It's almost like out of a comedy if it didn't deal with matters as serious as Bin Laden and citizens' security."

Also I was talking about a documentary about whether Bin Laden was alive or not, I thought that could be something worth discuss-.... this place is fucking retarded.

The image might not have been taken from google images, that just seems a little too coincidental. And nobody really thinks the FBI could be so stupid.

It is possible that the image was taken from an FBI database, who had tabs on this guy. He is tied to the Communist party in Spain.

Google images is just a cover.

I'm not talking about the hair cut... I'm talking about the actual hair, the individual threads. Looks exactly the same (minus color differences)

The documentary mentioned that, and talked about how the Muslims aren't allowed to dye their hair/beards/whatever. But apparently you can during time of War (wtf) which is the reason they gave for Bin Laden having a fresh beard in one of his video's

I saw a documentary that mentioned that Muslims can break certain laws of their religion (don't eat pork, don't drink etc.] if it was for the purpose of furthering their religion or for jihad.

I'm not an expert on Islam so take it with a grain of salt.

Worst 'photoshop' ever. The result doesn't even look human.

So can the Christians, 'thou shalt not kill' for example.

You can break the pork law if there is a reason like starvation.   I don't think there is anything else.

You should aviod watching those 'documentaries' on 'islam-watch btw.
