Why $59.99 for PC games?

I always thought that use PC gamers were cooler because we didnt overspend on our games. I, for some reason, really hate this new price tag on these new games. Im starting to feel like a console nub now, only thing left is the 4 year olds who think they can outcuss you.

Why the new price tag? I know companies want more buck for their bang, but as long as that price tag stays at 59.99, im not even gonna think about buying it.

What really pisses me off is when Infinity Ward think they can steal $10 from our wallets and release an unfinished game like that, but when other people start doing the same, then that just cuts the cake right there.

How many companies are actually doing this? On Bestbuy I only saw MW2, Starcraft 2, and Supreme Commander 2 for $60. Mass Effect 2 CE doesn't count.
But if more companies do start to increase prices to $60 permanently then I would either start to

When I got a console I said I would never pay the full 60 for a game, I never did until Borderlands, I regret that decision still, not a bad game, just not worth 60 imo.

What should us Euros say? It´s 59.99€, not Dollars. So far it´s only on steam at least. With MW2 being the exception. Guess i keep importing my games from England then, for some strange reason, they are usually 10 buks or more cheaper. Yay England!

Look, the only reason MW2 and SC2 are $60 is because Activision knew that chumps like people who aren't me would buy them no matter what. SC2 could be fucking $70, and you morons would all buy it because it's SC2. With MW2 there was every single fucking sign that the game would suck, the whole dedi-server shit, the mess of a Best Buy chat, the progressively more and more ridiculous trailers, the terrorist scene. Yet most of you idiots still payed more than the standard price for it.

PC games cost less than console games because with console games, the console's owner (Sony, MS etc) makes a royalty on the sale. For a publisher to charge the same for a PC game as they do for a console game is just them knowing that tools like yourselves would buy the stupid thing anyway, even if like MW2's case where you know it's gonna suck big time.
