How so?
Govt. does not build anything, or invent anything, or improve anything, the private sector does. Govt. is not resourceful or have an ounce of ingenuity. The private sector is.
and I am sorry, you can not see that difference.

America did not become great because of big stiffling govt. It became great becasue of the ideas andinginuity that stemmed from the private sector.

Really? Then why did America in 150 years since birth, start leading  the rest of the world in innovation, technology, medicine, and became a super power?

Sorry, you have no argument sustaining yourt belief that govt. is what makes a nation great.

The rise of our nation as an industrial force coincided brilliantly with the exodus of the intelligentsia from Europe following the revolutions of 1848 wouldn't you say?

Rockefeller, Carnegie and Vanderbilt needed workers. I'd say the first large influx of immigrants would be during the Reconstruction Era.

The Queen isd a figure head, the monarchy holds no real power any more or am I wrong about that?

and yes, going with the fact that "absolute power corrupts absolutely", big govt. does equal tyrannical govt.

So a bicentennial is only a 150 years?

You must be daft lowing, really ... I have mentioned in several posts now that one don't have to chose between the two ... you can have both ... at the same time ...

And if you think for one second that the US alone is leading the rest of the world in anything you are so misinformed it's scary ... yes you are amongst the more brilliant nations on earth but hardly alone and on many issues surpassed in the fields you claim ...

Your past successes is now looking more like it will be your downfall ... if you think your proud nation just passed the last economical test you ain't seen nothing yet ... spending out of control have brought greater empires than yours to its knees ...

150 years or 200+ to be more exact and you're still just a spoiled little brat ready for a beating ...

You haven't got a fucking clue what you are talking about!

Ummm by the turn of the century the Us was already king of the hill, so yeah about 150 years, don't remember anyone saying anything aobut a bicentennial.

Yes you mentioned that you can have a strong govt. without tyranny, and I shot that theory down already.

Never siad the US was alone, I said the US is leading the pack and only after 150 year of existence.

Yes we are on a downfall, and a fascist Obama socialist govt. will probably be the final nail in our coffin. To this the more my point is proven. Big govt. sure has fucked up a great thing.

I guess we will just have to disagree on whether or not I have a clue.

What theory did you shoot?

I never said we had a strong government, I implied we have a well functioning balance between government and private enterprise and you start rambling about how you shot that theory ... only thing you have proven so far is that you truly are clueless about that very balance ... you are against something you prove you don't have any knowledge about ...

you said you can have both, strong govt. control and a healthy provate sector. This is not true. I used the short history of the US compared to the 2000 year history of countries in Europe as the proof. Power to the people as the US used to be, and not the govt. as it is now.

Or do you think it is a coincidence the US used to top dog and now that our govt. is growing by leaps and bounds, we are sliding.

Strong govt. control curtails freedom, inginuity, inventivness and growth.

And by having both I yet again stress the point of having a balance between the two ...

You are sliding because of one important factor lowing, your economy ... it was under control and 8 years later it isn't ... you are currently in a deathtrap of government spending and only more spending gives you a hope of recovery ... and your government is the same size now as it was the previous 8 years before the "fascist" took over ...

You hate a strong government but embrace the thought of a huge military ... that just doesn't compute lowing ...

But I shall agree with you on one thing, that is if it is your opinion, if you have more employees in the government than you have in the private sector you have failed miserably ...

There are many bloated corporations which leech off the govt, those are just two examples, the financial houses, GM etc some more.

A strong military does not mean strong govt. control over the private sector. the 2 are not of the same issue.

Obama did not start the rise of fascist govt. He did however, embrace it and take it to the next level.

Yes lately? Our country is not set up for such govt. interference, and as stated before the private sector did quite well before govt. intrervention.

Actually people went to America for its socialist and liberal institutions. As John pointed out the revolutions of 1848 contributed to it, and the Irish famine too.

Yes. One of the reasons New York is actually there is because Ireland had a bit of trouble with some potatoes. Not because we had an evil government (although tbf we did)

Ummm nope, certain companies WITHIN the private sector got into trouble, and those companies should have been left to die. But the private sector itself was fine.

What the fuck are you on about man? The size of government has  nothing to do with it, it's about your own economic situation and whether you are being oppressed or not. Not this "OMG BIG GOVERNMENT" bullshit.
