Amusing but that's precisely why ABC >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Nine (> the others on the night), Smith and Minchin may not have been rentaquotes but what they did do was rational and very impartial election analysis.

Has anyone else noticed how The Australian has removed the thin veil and pretty much become our FoxNews equivalent, not even hiding the fact everything has a right wing slant anymore.

Yup. But they have been doing it for years. Its pretty much a joke paper if you want impartiality. George Megalonis is pretty good though ( i definitely spelt his name wrong there). ABC news is the best IMO

Just watched the video re Wayne Swan : He couldnt see who was talking to him , Laurie Oaks said he could barely hear them either. Hardly seems fair to say he was Owned by the panel. Glad I watched the ABC ( like the majority of watchers) it was the best coverage by far. Laurie Oaks even said that the attack on wayne swan was pretty low.

It was, but that's why it was awesome.

Because Joice totally knows what he's doing.

Joyce did his level best to kill the Coalition's chances of reelection on the night (by pissing off Windsor in person)

I bet Joyce copped some heat from that.

And I think bakinacake's comment was verging on the sarcastic, or so I read it.

Well this could be interesting: http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010 … 993590.htm

Why won't Abbott submit costings to Treasury? It seems a little farcical that on one hand they don't appear to trust it, yet they want to govern so they have a Treasurer. From what I understand the Treasury is non-political, just like the Reserve Bank.

Shit is hilarious. They made fun of Rudd on how he can speak Chinese and got backstabbed by Gilliard. Yeah it's from the Taiwanese news I don't know why they pull this 3D shit so much.

Exactly. They wouldnt submit costings to the treasury before the election , which is poor form. People were happy to look at the costings that came through the liberal party affiliated accountancy firm. its after the election now, so when they find problems with it ( which they probably will) they cant lose votes as such.  They claim there is a leak in treasury but thats hypocritical as the last treasury leak was Gordon Grech, and he was leaking to the libs. I think they made up the leak so they could avoid scrutiny of treasury. I hope the independents arent as gullible as the people of Australia

Labor isnt 100% innocent of not submitting costings. At least they were submitted.

The Australian wrote:

On Labor's side, all its policies were submitted to Treasury for costing, but nine arrived after the deadline, so eight spending proposals, worth $1.2bn, and a $200m savings measure are yet to be assessed.

I didn't know that about Labor, but you'd be a fool to think they're squeaky clean. Good point on Grech there too. Ironic that Abbott would make a point about not trusting Treasury when it was their own leak that allowed him to only just oust Turnbull from opposition leader. Now he doesn't trust them. Why's that, you know something Tony that we don't?

It's after the election, they should submit their costings to Treasury for a proper comparison so the Independents can get on with their job in due course. This is gutter politics and we deserve better.

Actually I agree. I thought he was a bit of a fruitloop for a while, but he seems to be cutting through a lot of crap. So far I dont think his demands are unreasonable.

I can see his point but he's still a jerk.
The voters have voted, leaks don't matter now - unless he has something to hide.

Maybe hes worried that we might have to go back to the polls soon ( its a possibility I guess) and that if it was found that there were massive probs with his costings, people may turn away from him. Its a dangerous game, as people now are starting to thinkhe has something to hide.

I find this a little concerning - http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010 … 994739.htm

My concern isn't so much which side takes office, it's the people within those electorates are now trying to influence the decision for the federal government.

Sure, the Independents hold power right now, but that's their job. It would be a real shame for democracy if they bowed to pressure from their individual constituencies rather than basing their decision upon the merits of both parties for the good of the nation. The result may be the same regardless, but at least it's done in the right way.
