You'd think aussies would be a bit more thoughtful regarding deportation seeing as how most of their ancestors were tossed out of the UK as undesirables. Shitheads.
It's a surprisingly similar situation.

Peter Dutton's all about "these foreigners are undesirables and we don't want them here" but as I said a lot of them, I'd say most of them, are Australian in everything but documentation. The first fellow I mentioned, the main photo of him being used in the media he's wearing a South Sydney Rabbitohs jersey. No-one who identifies as a New Zealander would do that even if they were one of the few weirdo Kiwis who like rugby league.

They are deporting people they don't like through a loophole. And as immoral as that is I can understand the desire, but speaking as a New Zealander in New Zealand, I don't want to deal with Australia's reject Australians. They have no support structure here meaning they will be living on welfare, (which Australian legislation disqualifies them from in Australia because fuck New Zealanders.) A number of them would have left behind families. A lot of them would have been damaged at the hands of the Australian corrections and immigration system. A lot of them do not see themselves as New Zealanders and have no connection to the country at all. What do you think they'll do? Suddenly turn into model citizens?

Australia is irreparably fucking up a lot of people and are dumping them on us because they think they should be able to. And John Key may be complicit because he wants to ride on the coat tails of Australia's turn back the boats policy in case any refugee boats turn up here but as far as I'm concerned the situation reeks.
So basically you're saying non-citizens should have the same rights as citizens?

You're saying non-citizens should get a free pass to commit crimes with no sanctions?
If I lived in NZ for a while and learned the haka would that give me all the rights of a New Zealand citizen and a free pass do to as I pleased?

If they're dumb enough to not get their documentation in order what is supposed to be done with them?
They aren't 'reject Australians' by any stretch, they're New Zealanders who thought they deserved a free pass for some reason and are now aggrieved they haven't got one.

I don't give two shits about these guys either.

Non-citizens committing crimes can expect to be deported, boo-hoo.

The character test has been too subjective by the judge. People shouldn't be guilty by association and it's not a criminal offense in WA to be a member of a bikie gang. The army duder has 0 criminal convictions and it's a shame they're deporting him.

There's a brit being deported after living here for 50 years but never bothered to pick up aussie citizenship... all i can say is tough titties. Every country has similar rules in dealing with non-citizens. It does create an uneven balance of rights of non-citizens v citizens in the criminal justice system sometimes benefiting the non-citizen.

I witnessed a case where a man got s.10 (conviction not recorded) for assaulting his wife. The judge really wanted to punish the guy but they would not give him an AVO because it'd affect his visa, ending his ability to support his wife's study in aus.

The judge shouldn't be playing immigration official, its dangerous when people in authority step outside their role, and obviously wrong that a non-citizen is let-off when a citizen would be punished.

Non-citizens reside in a country at the whim of the govt, if people want a right to live in a country they need to apply for citizenship, until then they need to keep their nose clean.

Civics are very important in the functioning of a country, letting them slide is the path to ruin.

For that case specifically, I would doubt a citizen would get any different conviction. Oh, I forgot to mention that the husband 'lightly' tapped the head of his wife when he saw her with another man and did so in anger. He was super remorseful though which does help with sentencing.

Judges play immigration official all the time Dilbert. It's actually one of the major focus of administration law.

AVO is civil penalty. But it will affect someone's character test when it comes to a visa refusal.

Judges do have a look at the entire situation and decide on sentencing. They've been doing it for hundred of years dilbs. If the guy got an AVO and somehow got deported, you essentially fucked over the livelihood of her wife who is a victim of the crime.

Cops used to be spastic before in NSW, charging women being an accessory to a crime when they got bashed by their boyfriends. They actually had to put in a law to specifically bar that from happening.

s. 14(7) Crimes Act 2007 (domestic violence amendment).

'A person is not guilty of an offence of aiding, abetting, counselling or procuring the commission of an offence against subsection (1) if the person is a protected person under the order concerned.'

Before that cops were charging women with aiding and abetting a criminal offence when they refused to testify against their partners.

It's ironic that a party with the name "liberal" in it is basically turning Australia into a nanny-state that is doing its hardest to restrict freedoms.

I thought the "liberal" in your Liberal Party was just for show? Let's see, party for sale, hamstringing civil unions to attack gays, attacking asylum seekers, throwing money into school chaplains, and defunding universities. Did I get anything wrong or miss anything else?

Don't worry guys, the AFP have the terror threat under control

A MAN allegedly walked into what is supposed to be one of the country’s most secure buildings, the Australian Federal Police’s Sydney headquarters, armed with a knife.

The 22-year-old allegedly drove into the underground carpark on Goulburn St telling guards he was there for an appointment, Channel 7 reported.

He apparently walked around unchallenged before getting in a lift with a counter terrorism officer.

When the pair got out of the lift at the counter terrorism floor he was confronted and arrested.

Officers allegedly found a knife in his possession and when they searched his car they found a samurai sword, Channel 7 reported.

He was charged with trespassing and other offences and faced Central Local Court on Wednesday.

Five months ago I was riling against the Federal Government for hamstringing its own renewable energy sector just because fuck turbines and solar panels.

Malcolm Turnbull's reversed it. Well to a certain extent anyway. They've still got the fuck-headed idea to focus the CFC on "emerging technologies" - with them having the final decision on what they are. But apparently off-shore wind is "emerging" enough for their tastes and it seems Turnbull is looking to dial it back so rooftop solar and on-shore wind turbines are fine for the CEFC to invest in as they always fucking should have been.

Yes, poor Chris Gayle. No-one deserves to be told off for making stupid laddish advances on a woman live on TV while she's trying to do her job - no matter how much money and how many girls he gets.
