Haven't had the fortune of trying this game out but this makes it more appealing. Hopefully they can get a workaround that won't get anyone in too much trouble

Word tonight is that programmers around the net have managed to crack the "console" in MW2. They have looked inside the programming and they report that, though many of the dvars (features) we used to have in CoD4 are gone - some are still available.

There are programmers right now who are running MW2 locally and have modified the Multiplayer executable to enable their boxes to function as dedicated servers. Though at this moment, no one can connect to them - mainly due to the fact that no clients are running a "hacked" executable.

The good news here is that it, if they wanted to, Infinity Ward could simply "switch on" this functionality.

as I said in the other thread: this will increase the pressure on IW to release this functionality. Although I'd be surprised if they didn't see it coming, mind you a week is bloody fast.

Well of course it's subjective not every game is to everyones liking. It is a game that appeals to the masses if you think it's a bad idea I think you need to understand that most videogames are made with the incentive to create profit.

Well I remember IW saying they were ditching Dedi servers for IWnet match making to make the games more balanced, but honestly i've seen no change in balance yet.
In a normal TDM, I would see 3-4 people with lvl above 40 + some 20-30lvl people and the other team made of 1,5,10,2 lvls...thats not balancing at all. And plus the fact that you can't change teams during the match is bullshit, i don't mind but its not fair when some people leave and there are 2 10lvl guys left alone getting their asses raped. And i see this sooo many times, this balancing thing hasn't worked at all.
So what is the IWnet for then? the balancing doesn't work, it puts me in servers that are in America or in Asia so i lag like a bitch, it takes ages to find a match, it disconnects me from matches randomly....what the fuck is it for? Give me the dedicated servers back, so i can just choose a nice european lag less server and have a nice match.

Most of the time on the internet, people will try to outright ban others from simply being negative and insist that they always go out of their way to give their reasons, as that way it's easy to turn anything into endless argument and to never have to be proven wrong. There's a fine line between those who just want a reasonable discussion and those who can't stand to hear that someone might not appreciate something they like.

And as far as iwnet is concerned, I dislike it because the sole reason it was implemented was to force PC owners to have to buy DLC too.
