I'm guessing to hold the ghost while he's not floating around the level.
Why on earth they fully textured it and put props in there is anyones guess.

They obviously did that intentionally, Anything that doesn't need to be seen is invisible/non-existent in valve maps. Even the back of walls/props just aren't there half the time. So yeah, nice Easter egg

Seriously though, has anyone actually checked what would happen if you never fire a weapon on this event map?
Will Zepheniah Mann's ghost appear? Maybe the first gun fire in a round triggers the initial appearance of the ghost!
