From the initial screen shots, it looks very aesthetically pleasing, and because its simple, would most likely function like a charm.

It's something I will be looking deeper into closer to its release.

Well I installed Win7 on my netbook and it works great (aero on). I would understand if netbooks needed a weaker OS but win7 vs Joli? Don't think Joli has any advantages over 7.

It's more to do with the small screens, so they lay everything out in an easy to use manner. It's actually really good. Not to mention that I never use more than 300Mb of RAM.

It's ubuntu all right, gnome and all.
Runs 2.6.30 kernel, so hardware support should be good

Personally I'd just install a regular distro and then start tweaking
