Speaking of Smithy (of whom I am an unashamed fan in short formats. At the very least he is probably the most naturally talented fielder I've ever seen, some of the boundary fielding he pulls of is incredible)

Final England game today before the WC starts, beat Pakistan, wish Id put a fiver on it now. Pietersen opened and had a arf centrury, Collingwood in the runs. Broad taking wickets on his return. A good result at the right time.
World Cup Starts later. Its in India and Bangladesh so providing those to teams dont go out early, it'll be lively.
My money is on England or Australia, I think thats the final.
I backed England before today, I should anyway, but; I just think its a team who can handle the big games. They have a lot of match winners, a good team ethic, experience, and can bat quite a way down. Wether they know yet who's opening I dont know. KP did it today and rumour has it he;s opening in the WC. I couldnt tell you how many combo's we have had of our top 2.

I actually think Broad is your best one day bowler - better than Swann. He can bowl in any conditions, can adapt the game, has basically all the tools - and pioneered a new one in the slow bouncer - and is an excellent death bowler. Not having him for the Aus series hurt you a lot more than most people think.

I dunno about England. Alot of the people here have just been moaning about the ODI format, mainly because England got its arse handed to it so badly by Australia. The same things were said about Tests when England were losing, about how it's a dead format and about T20 and how it's a joke format. So it's nothing new, but the England players develop that sort of mentality too.
The bunch of them are fair-weather players, as is the media. Unless somehow the mentality has changed alot since Australia, they're gonna get trashed in this tournament. I hope not, considering how good the Ashes performance was. I mean, Cricket is still fucking Cricket.
