Most modern cars, even my 1.0 litre petrol car can get rolling without throttle, if you handle the clutch correctly. Virtually all learning cars over here are diesels, which are much harder to stall then petrol cars.  Even a 1.4 litre diesel is almost impossible to stall. Our 'little anemic cars' produce a rather large amount of break horse power compared to your larger but inefficient engines.

My piddly little 70bhp can get rolling on the clutch lol, I think any car can tbh, it's the easiest way to just roll along in heavy traffic.

Holy shit, how can you guys drive with 70-100hp? I even thought my 170hp SlowVo wasnt fast enough so im trading it in for the 220hp turbo version.

Because our 70bhp cars are effective

OT

1) Do it naked, show's your at home behind the wheel.
2) ALWAYS look at the pedals before you press one
3) Indicators are basically just there as a way of saying yes/no on the road. As such they are a distraction, don't use them.
4) 99% of the time you can never have enough speed. Take the limit, then double it and add 5. This is the actual speed you should do.
5) If you see anything expensive, try and race it. This will earn you 'mad props' from your instructor.
6) If you feel good enough, try driving with your knees while you a)have a smoke, b)have a beer or c)snort coke off the dashboard.

Ask me if you have any more questions

Easy.
Diifferent gearing, much lighter cars, its torque which matters in any case.
Also our engines are much freer revving than your average POS US pushrod engine.
Power is no use if it takes half an hour for the engine to pick up.

Car manufacturers have it hard esp in the US, they want a max power figure to put in the catalogue, and a good fuel consumption figure.
They also have to meet emissions requirements.

Result:
A car which drives like shit but looks good on paper.

My first lesson involved going on an epic trip through the country on 60mph roads.
But I had done a bit of pre-driving round car parks for clutch control etc. with my dad.

Yeah, it'll pick up.

First time I drove a car, I think I had a thread on it here, it was a 2.0 L Mazda Sport, wheelspun it 'cause of far too many revs

Then I drove my Mum's Audi A4 Estate .. goddamn that was a big car. Got it up to around 40-50. Three-point turning in even that was easy. I don't see how people can call three-point turns hard...

Your the only person I've ever heard mention three-point turns being hard.

It also depends on the road you're on.

Give way means traffic gets out the way for you, it's just the council put the sign on the wrong side of the road.
Leaving burn out marks is a sign of respect, the longer the mark, the higher the kudos.
Animals need to learn that roads are dangerous, hit them if you see them.
Everyone is born to drift, want to ace your test? Show your instructor how superior your skills are by pulling off an insane drift. Bonus points if you wipe out and destory his/her car.
Put the car into neutral when going down hills, then rev it up and drop the clutch, the instructor will be impressed.
Being under the influence of Drugs or Alchohol may also help.
