Still dont have my computer back togeather, apparently my 12 gram Arctic silver 5 went missing in while moving, so ordered a 4 gram Arctic Cooling MX-3... hate having to wait.
Mixing RAM manufacturers is okay as long as they are the same speed right?
Its good, if the rest of the specs (latency) are same too. But of course its best to get identical if there is available... especially if you overclock.Wallpaper wrote:

No ocing, dont have the money to buy matching since the DDR2 prices are insane. One of my sticks died and I got a replacement from a different brand, but its causing bluescreens too. Memtest is clean, guess I just got a bad stick
Have you thought about the possibility the ram socket is dead? (maybe killd the original stick in the first place)
Try the sticks alone in different socket. See what happens.

I'm so tired of my parents(mainly mom)being so cheap. If it weren't for that, I would have had a new rig ~6-8 months ago. Mom is so hung up on getting the best deal that we can't buy anything without enormous amounts of research, unless, of course, it's from the thrift store. It's not like mom's being careful with money stopped my dad from blowing >$20k on random shit in the last 18 months or anything

Well, until you have a job and are using your own money, you've just gotta stick with what your parents get
build it yourself, sounds like it'll be perfect. you can wait for deals/whenever things drop in price.nickb64 wrote:

It became obsolete, happens to all old tech.
Is that the one that comes with the fire engine cooling system?Microwave wrote:

Yet still DDR3 costs more X_xTheEternalPessimist wrote:

New tech isn't cheap either.

As I said in the other thread sorry for the terrible pictures but I saw all this goodness today!
Thermaltake Level 10 (quite a few companies are offering their flagship builds in this case now) It's even more striking in person than in pics but it's still looks over functionality.
6 monitor eyefinity.
Triple monitors on 2 GTX 480's.
Liquid nitrogen cooling on the new Gulftown 6 core i7 980x!!! He got it to 5.6Ghz when I was watching. Oh, on a 4 way Classified mobo with a GTX 480!

While looking cool... the Level 10 is simply rediculously priced (the case alone is 50% more expensive than my current PC was) and with all those crooks & crannies it will collect dust like a vacuum cleaner... You'd have to clean it every day X_xMicrowave wrote:

It's "nooks & crannies" btw
They don't need to make DDR3 cheaper, just make DDR2 cost more so you don't see the point in buying it over DDR3.FloppY_ wrote:
