Anyone know what the optimal resolution to use is for the HD 6870? A friend said to not go above 1680x1050 or else there will be a performance loss. But the card can go up to 2560 x 1600.

I'm trying to decide what monitor to buy actually. Most of the decent ones listed online have a max res of 1920x1080. But I'm concerned the 6870 @ 1GB (I should have mentioned that part earlier) will not suffice at that the res.

according to this review, the drop is significant going from 1280x1024 to 1680x1050. 1920x1080 will be between 1680x1050 and 1920x1200 results, i guess...

Tried defragging? Sounds like your HDD could be lagging, not your CPU. Unless you were watching the resource monitor when it happens?

yeah i was, it runs fine with firefox or chrome off. seems to spike when switching tabs, loading tabs, etc. it's normal to change obviously but this makes music unlistenable

Looking for a laptop for uni really, want a decent processor (i5?) nice amount of memory and a good display: 15"ish.
Storage isn't a huge priority as I'll only be storing documents, a couple of games maybe and some music, 300gb would be ideal I reckon.
Not really sure what to look for here, Lenovo/Sony seem to be waaay overpriced but everything else looks cheap/nasty. Expected but kinda hoping someone knows of a decent deal, Budget's around 500 but can be a little fluid with that.

Good deal for a notebook, wanted something bigger for my use. Tried using a friends notebook and end up just squinting at it getting a very warm lap after any amount of time. Not for me

Anyone know how to cure a case of the lag spikes in BF2?

I've called my ISP, all good on their end. I tried w/o firewalls/antivirus. I did some registry changes. Nothing seems to work. My ping shoots to ~400, then back back to ~150. Any server.

my internet connection is like this also-- lag then a huge push then a lag again,...

Honestly, I don't think the performance difference is going to be very significant, but then neither is $20 in a >$1000 build. Sandy Bridge.

Bought it anyway, not bad imo. only complaint so far is that the home, pg up, pg down and end keys are in the wrong place.
