not really concerned about battery life, its plugged in most of the time.  have a desktop, but i dont move it around yadda, yadda, yadda. as long as it can last 2 hours or so its fine.  switchable graphics should save power too.  3 x USB 3.0
always remember to remove the battery when you've got it plugged in.

also what's your current laptop?

Spoiler (highlight to read):
send it to me

its long past the point of that mattering - it lasts 1.5 hours when the laptop is unplugged.  its some asus from 3 years ago, it was pretty damned awesome when it came out but its not as amazing now.  2.2GHz P8400, 4GB ram, ati 3650, 7 ultimate, 1400x900, 500GB hdd, etc

So the Mayor (Sly James himself, is there a mayor with a more badass sounding name out there?) just announced that Google is expanding their gigabit internet project to include all of Kansas City...which, with BF3 and a whole wide universe of porn and humorous gifs on the horizon, is obviously a win for me.

As I read about it I saw that Google plans to offer "competitive" pricing for the service, but with nothing given in the way of specifics.

Would you expect that to mean they are going to charge what other companies currently charge for top-end service (for example, ~$60 for 30Mbit from Time Warner), or could one consider something as high as $120 "competitive" simply because the user is getting so much more bang-for-the-buck with their service?

Google seems like the type of company that might just surprise everyone and not try to wring every last dime out of their customers, but hoping that some of the fastest internet in the world will cost $50/month seemed sort of like wishful thinking.

Shame that Kansas is such a tornado-plagued place. It would make a killer location for cheap, affordable data centers.

While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

Is the GeForce 560Ti the best GFX to get atm? It's only £200 and I need a really decent graphics card (I currently have the 8800GTS and it's starting to suck).

What are the current top performers?

when i purchased my new rig about 3-4 months ago the 6870 was a good mid-range card for a budget system.

Not going for a budget system; my current setup is an i7, 6GB of RAM and a P6T. No point in me getting something average when everything else is above a "budget system".

I was looking at Toms Hardware and the 6950 looks like a good shout. Better than the 560Ti anyway, and I'd like to get an ATI card rather than an nVidia this time around.

well the 6870 is £150-175 (depending on the version) so i was guessing a suggestion of a £200 card is 'mid-range'.

i thought the top-range cards were now in the region of £300-400, though i don't know... i don't think any of them are worth it.

I was just going by this: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/bes … 935-7.html and then this:

Seems like for £200 you can get a card that pretty much rapes Crysis 2 and all that sparkly shit. But I'm totally out of the game regarding this, so I don't know for sure.

all the mid-range cards rape most games nowadays - my 6870 plays everything on full just fine (crysis 2 is perhaps an exception; stuff like the witcher 2 probably won't play on max settings, either, but you get the point). mid-range nowadays does pretty well in comparison to, say, the directx 10 generation where you'd need a powerhouse to play the 'benchmark' titles. i think spending £200-250 is pretty wise... anything else and it seems like a waste when it comes to price:performance value.

Oh totally, nothing more than £250 is even crossing my mind. I want Witcher 2 on full though

You'll need at least a 570 to get Witcher 2 on full at 1080p.  I should be getting my 580 today.

the 6950 1gb version would be a better card at that price point.
