Hmm, 11inch "netbooks" aren't that bad...

But in that case you will need a 13" laptop... and you wont get much better than 4 hours of battery...
wtf are you on?  My cousin just bought a 15" Dell Studio laptop and she gets 6-7 hours of battery WATCHING MOVIES.  She easily gets 10 hours normally.
LOL!

Either that is one slow Celeron (Sell-and-run hurr) or she has >9cell battery,,,

Or its a fairly high end new model.  With a 9 cell.  Pretty sure you just have no idea what your talking about.

My laptop from 2 years ago can last like 4 hours with a 6 cell... so its quite reasonable for hers to last that long with a 9 cell.

Fuck y'all :'(

Sure, nonGPU laptops last longer, but to get a proper days work out of a 15" you really need a big ass battery (at least 9cell)

Also: nonGPU laptops are not worth it imo, then I'd rather have a netbook, or if I am shitting money I'd have a top notch Lenovo Thinkpad

Thats a 16, not a 15.  Do you have a GPU as well?

Ok, for the sake of setting a budget, put it at $1200.

But it's flexible, both ways. Ie - I won't be gaming on this thing, but I will be doing office-programs, movies and some photo-editing. So no need to get a leet graphics card which I won't use. On the flip side, if $100 extra will give me something worth getting, shout. Where do I start?

a MBP is an option.. I will have a windows PC, and it might be nice to have 'the best of both worlds'.. Still unsure, need to think about that.

I would start googling up some latest $1200 Lenovos.

I have a 6-cell afaik in my T400 and it lasts WLAN and light work about 4 and half hours, with 9-cell 6 hours sounds doable.

The new iPod Nano is pretty slick, I like it a lot. It would be nice if they came up with something new for the iPod Classic, though. I much preferred my 5th gen iPod over the Classic - the wheel was much more responsive.

Honestly I sometimes hate the wheel. I mean its cool cos it lets you scroll through so many songs so fast but its just not accurate when you're trying so select a song. Like its too sensitive

Wheel would be a helluva lot better than the POS touchscreen on this Nokia C6. Such a horrible phone. I hate Nokias with a passion in terms of usability. Lots of cool little things they do but it never adds up to a product I'd want to live with.

HD3670. But even if I ratchet it back to "balanced" power plan, the thing bumps and stutters with movies.

I remember reading about PCI-e SSDs a year or two ago (cost was ~$3000 I think). Nice to see they've come down to an affordable level.

Okay so my FF uses a proxy at all time through an SSH tunnel to my server.  But, the irritating thing is that youtube videos wont work embedded when using that since it requires me to enter in a captcha due to the "high volume of users" in my area (aka the datacentre).

If I set youtube.com as an exclusion to my proxy settings in FF, would it compromise security at all?  Also, some of the youtube videos I watch are ones that are embedded in the sites that I'd prefer not to have my actual IP associated with.

hokay so I just got an ATi card to replace my dying 8800GT

1) What are the good third party drivers I am supposed to be using with ATi? The ones freezer creams over if I am not mistaken?

2) Would anyone perchance know of a way to turn off the bright, bright blue video card LED that is totally cramping my case's style?

They were giving the iPods away with MacBooks so that they could get rid of their stock in preparation for the new iPod Touches. I'm glad I bought my 32GB, the newer ones have pointless upgrades that I would rarely use for a larger price difference.

Netflix app is out for free in the App Store... can stream their movies on my iPod Touch now at Uni.

There aren't any good third party drivers for ATi, those old omega drivers didn't really improve performance at all, they fucked image quality.

Just get latest Catalyst from AMD.

My 8800GT arrived by mail today
