I'm not looking forward to getting back to uni internet. Half the speed and 1.5Gb/day download limitsMicrowave wrote:

My uni internet was amazing, that's why I started my rapidshare account. Consistent 20mb. No download limits, no filters.ghettoperson wrote:

The internet I'm on at the moment is appalling. Doesn't help coming from 90mb at IBM!
I go to a backwards ass university.
Sure wish I was in halls still, at Southampton, internets was fucking crazy awesome.
Liq, where do you live in Southampton? I'm like 5mins from the uni (I think!)

Guys, please, don't complain about your internets!Microwave wrote:

As for the iPhone talk, I don't know anyone with an iPhone who doesn't have it in a case. The problem on the new ones is solved when it's in a case..
ALSO, how hard would it be to turn an old dell computer of ours (that we haven't used for a year or 2) into a server? I'd like somewhere to keep proper backups of my photos (the massive original RAW files), music, tv shows/movies... aaaaaaand a better way of networking the printer, which will currently only work over the network when our main PC is turned on
Not hard at all. The default install should be perfectly capable of handling that. If you want, you can get MS server 2008 R2 for free through that Academic Alliance thing. Connect up the printer to that PC, share it over the network. Maybe stick in another HDD for more space? If you don't want it running 24/7, enable Wake on Lan in the BIOS. Then you can remotely start it.
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
Yeah, but the new iPhone actually looks good, unlike the old one. I'd be annoyed if I had to cover up all that sexy aluminium.mcminty wrote:

Hmm, well it's so old that I'd want to put in new hard drives. OS wise - the PC runs XP, my bro and I run OS X on our laptops, and mum's laptop has Win7.. So i dunno what would be best there The old dell also has a fucked graphics card.. so would I be able to do some remote desktop thing to change settings and whatnot?max wrote:

Fair enough, tho I'd still be too afraid of dropping it and fucking it upghettoperson wrote:

Tbh when he first started posting I was seriously doubting he's for real, but he seemed to be very clued up about stuff inside ATi. Just wait until ATi release 6xxx series, and if there's a rumor of 6900 then you'll all brick yourselvesburnzz wrote:

lol, probably some dude from guru3d or something. no real ati guy
You'll need a working GPU to install whatever OS you decide on. You must have some old GPU lying around. After that you can run headless and do remote desktop/VNC or a telnet/ssh session. For HDDs I'd recommend a WD green. Don't need a high performance drive for that. Low power is always good for these sort of setups.mcminty wrote:

As for what OS, anything will work. W7 / Server 2008 R2 is probably the easiest to config and maintain. Getting XP to share everything properly can be a bit of a pain. Ubuntu Server is a good choice too. Coming from OSX, you should feel right at home in Linux.
(If you do go the linux route, consider installing squid. It caches your internet, which will help with the pathetic speeds you have down there.)

Any have any idea why I can't watch embedded youtube on BF2s?
It just acts like a picture, but I can right click on it for Flash/whatever options

Hmmm no, It lets me watch a few, but i can't use the controls. Others take me to the youtube page of the video when i click the play button, and others still don't work.
Apparently a lot of people given the amount of news this is generating.alexb wrote:

I also have a problem using copy paste every now and again. I ctrl+C, then when I ctrl+V or right click > Paste, it doesn't paste anything except a space.

G15 or G110? I can get both for the same price.
I like pie.
