The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Players generally take micro SDHC cards, which max out at 32GB. But then most player won't actually take ones with such a capacity and are limited to 16GB. And the SD card doesn't properly integrate into the library. And limited to ~8k songs. What is this shit? You'd think they'd be able to make a proper player that takes 2 full sized SDXC in 2010. Then I could have my 128GB player. But no, let's add camera and useless shit to our crappy 4GB players instead

One of my cables for my speakers mysteriously died overnight. At one end it splits into two, and then the inner of the wire is exposed, which is put into two holes in the back of the speaker, and at the other end of the cable it's a >3.5mm jack with a shrouding around it. What are these types of cables called and are they expensive?

It looks like a phono (RCA) cable (L or R, depending on the speaker..) that has been modified and just cut off at the end..

What powers the speakers/what do you connect it to?

It's standard speaker wire with an rca (phono) connector attached. You can buy the connectors and speaker wire separately. The connectors are easy to attach.

Not at all. Based on what you've said there would be no reason to get any high quality speaker wire or connectors. Just get whatever you can find. Maplins will probably suffice.
