Has anybody got the new nVidia GeForce 7800 GS AGP card yet?

What is the best AGP card available now? I have an ATI 9700 Pro and want to upgrade to a newer
AGP card. I'm not ready for the full PC upgrade yet. I'm waiting on Direct X 10, Vistas, DDR2 memory, and Blu-Ray before doing a full upgrade.

An artical in this months Maximum PC says that AGP only goes up the the 6800 Ultra Family of video cards and I think a GS model. Where did you see a GeForce 7800 GS AGP model. Because I'm getting ready to upgrade to PCI-E So I can get 1 or 2 GTX 512's, or just the N7800 Dual GPU from ASUS ($800 btw).

Waiting for my 2005 tax return! OOH-RAH!

Anyone want to make an offer on my ATI 9550 256mb card? Bought in October 05', for $130.00. Make a decent offer, and we will be in business.

Actually it's not faster than the x850xtpe. But, I would still pick it over the ATI, simply because of the SM3 support.

The GeForce 7800GS is likely to be the last high-end AGP card for a long, long time.  Intel has completely migrated over to PCI Express and AMD's processor is set to go through a socket change in 2006 (of which I am guessing that no AGP chipset will be made).  If plan on keeping your AGP card for another 2-3 years, get the card.  Otherwise, I say save $300 and wait it out for the new stuff.

I'd say save your money and get a 6800 series. Then put the money you saved towards buying a PCI-E motherboard later on.

GeForce 7800GS is made up of the failed 7800 GTX PCI-E chips. Instead of creating inferior PCI-E cards then put the chips on a AGP slot card. They are the same speed as the GTX but with 16 pipelines instead of 24 I think. They are a little worse than the x850 XT PE but slightly better than the x850 XT. Also because they are being manufactured they are hopefully going to go down in price over time which may put them cheaper than the x850 XT in time. Currently they are going for about $15 more retail than the x850 XT new on ebay.

I say if you want to upgrade your Video Card and you don't feel like having to get everything new to go to PCI-E then this is a good buy. Take advantage of it. Like they say it may be the last AGP card ever produced.
