Yep, realistically i think it depends more on how each department of each university is rather than a university as a whole. Lists such as this are in effect allowing people to compare one university that specialises in technology e.g. MiT with one thats very much arts, literature and humanities based such as oxford. Both are amazing universitys *i used them as they are famous examples of specialisation* but you wouldn't expect MiT to have an awesome humanities department and you equally so you wouldn't expect oxford to have an amazing tech department (granted cambridge does).

There should be an addendum: Position on list is proportionate to the money you will waste on tuition.

What are all these different scores? Because it seems to score very high on some, and very low on others..

My tuition cost ~£4500. Not bad for a 4 year course.

I'd say that only really applies in the US, where Harvard costs around $40,000/year. So that would be $160,000 for a four year course. Ouch!

That's nice to know. Are private/'high-end' universities outside the US typically ludicrously expensive?

Also, consider that to becoming a proper doctor can take 12 years or more of similar tuition. The only reason they get payed so much is insurance and student loans, unfortunately both problems probably more prevalent in the US.

No. Oxford/Cambridge are maybe £3000/year - but that's in line with what other unis charge over here these days.

Fail they didn't list all unis from here.

Yup. It lists the University of New South Wales at 152-200... which says nothing to the fact that it's ranked 27th in engineering, which is what I'm doing.

The best universities here charge something like $500 per year.

All the comparisons are bullshit. Including subject specific ones. While I was there (although it started slipping a bit in my final year), my uni was ranked 3rd in engineering in the UK, just behind Imperial, in the Times ratings. When I got round to breaking down the criteria a bit my uni was only ranked so highly because they had a big temporary surplus of cash in the engineering department and spending is weighted very heavily in these ratings.
