so, look at another city or something. there is a 24 hour vet within 2 hours of you...there has to be.

I find it scary that a person doesn't know how to take care of a dying dog. Hang you head in shame, wtf must your family think of you.
Pets get sick and die all the time, you have no idea how to put down a suffering pet? Damn.
edit: ok, don't let the thing suffer and die in front of the wife and kids. Man up, throw it in the car with the .22/shovel and drive to the country and put a few rounds into its head behind its ear. Throw the dog in a dumpster on the way home and tell the wife and kids you buried it in the woods in a nice little place. et al
