WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — Les Paul, the guitarist and inventor who changed the course of music with the electric guitar and multitrack recording and had a string of hits, many with wife Mary Ford, died on Thursday. He was 94.

According to Gibson Guitar, Paul died of complications from pneumonia at White Plains Hospital. His family and friends were by his side.

I'm a strat man myself...but that's besides the point.

Honestly, I didn't even know the man was still alive. So much history has been made on the Gibson LP that I thought this guy was gone AGES ago. Well, he's made one hell of an impact on our culture...and he'll forever be remembered in the guitar that weighs as much as my coffee table (not ripping on the guitar...just saying)
