It's, in a way, a freudian slip. They do nothing to help their cause because they're against progress.
A false assumption my young friend. I support reform on many levels. Just not this plan. That is also progress.
Not talking about you.

I'm talking about the severe, ultra "conservative" radical right wingers. Who somehow have become a voice of the party and are pandered to by the GOP even though they're a minority. Damn shame too.

It's the same case with liberals too nowadays unfortunately.
" voice of the party "?

Which politicians are you talking about? Or do you confuse Rush with a politician?

The " mob " anger is as organic as it gets. Obama calls it astro-turf, lol. As in a fake organic roots movement.

We all know how lazy people are. They are making a stink because they are incensed patriots who disagree with the hard sudden move into a quasi socialistic dictatorship ( as some feel ). You can't get people to show up and get in politicians faces unless they are really angry.
Pelosi and the democrats painting these Americans as anything other than that is sickening.

I agree. The GOP has unfortunately played the same card when talking about those who did not support the war.

" The two party system works to instantly divide the population into two. So instead of 350million strong, we now have MAYBE 150 million strong.

Then, further division. We have the obama supporters, who do not support his health care. Thus, we have yet another division. Division after division after division, and we're left with tiny little groups squabbling with each other that NEVER get things accomplished! Do you think this is some grand coincidence? Are people that blind? I would hope not. Now these are just examples, and I hope that by highlighting the way this works, more people will begin to realize it going on non stop, all around them. It's an endless cycle, which as mentioned has as it's primary goal - division, division, and you guessed it DIVISION. Divide and conquer, it has always worked in the past, and it always will in the future. "

Then I will assume you are talking about someone more like me.  I really don't care what you consider to be progress.  You can go ahead and label the issues and people like myself however you want.  The real fight for me is to stop the federal government from growing and actually remove their fingers from a lot of the areas they have them.  If you want to debate the social and most economic issues then take it to the state legislatures.  Much easier battle if you live in the right state, and much harder if you don't.  Move to the state you like.  My intention is to look for those candidates that are like minded to me and support them to the best of my ability.  I also intend on showing my disapproval of the policies that go against my desires.

I would be one of those people at the meeting who has actually studied the issues I am concerned about.  I would ask questions and listen to the answers.  My point of being there would be to show support for the issues I care about and to show them I/we are willing to stand up for what we believe in.  I would never yell at them or threaten in any way.  I truly hope that all citizens start to inform themselves on the issues and make an informed vote.  If my country or my state move in a direction I do not agree with based informed votes, then so be it.

In this day and age, dissent is basically as manufactured as patriotism is.

Special interests of every flavor can manipulate the public with faux protests and counterprotests.

It's all possible because the average person is clueless, uneducated, and/or complacent.

If nothing else, the debate on healthcare in this country is a sad reminder that the integrity of a democracy is dependent on having an educated populace.  We clearly are lacking that education -- at least in terms of civic affairs.

I would have liked to have seen the full video, it seems to cut in just before the incident. And did the guy who was "attacked" know the videographer. Looks a little suspicious to me and perhaps staged.

But I guess it doesn't matter, if you go into a mob situation yelling and screaming at other people, all it takes is one guy to lose his temper and you'll have a fight, be glad no one has brought a gun to the debate.... yet.

Sounds very "community organizer"-ish.

That's what I find so blindingly ironic about this whole situation.
