At this point the Republican Party is similar to the Dark Ages represented by the three Estates.

1. Those who prayed (The evangelical preachers)
2. The nobles (the Republican leadership)
3. The peasants (the base)

Like the Middle Ages those at the top being the Evangelicals continue to teach and thrive on ignorance, hatred of science, and lack of education.
An educated base is a dangerous thing for the GOP, for the more educated the base, the more difficult it is to lie to them and trick them into voting Republican.
Mind you I'm not saying all Republicans are ignorant and uneducated rubes. However, nowadays it is safe to say that if you are an ignorant and uneducated rube you are probably a Republican.

This is represented by statistics indicating that as a general rule, Democratic voters tended to have a college degree than Republican voters:

Based on the quantity of post secondary degrees in red states vs. blue states (2004 election,) the liberal blue states have MORE post secondary degrees:
Democratic Blue states: 705,495 (20 states, population 143 million)
Republican Red states: 694,047 (31 states, population 159 million)
Despite a huge population advantage, blue states have more degrees. D.C is included in the blue states because it has an electoral vote.

US News rankings of the the nation's top 15 colleges and universities in the country.
Number of top 15 schools in:
Blue States: 13
Red States: 2
This stat speaks for itself. The top school in the red states is ranked at #8 Duke. #1 Harvard, #2 Princeton, #3 Yale, #4 MIT, #5 Stanford, etc are all in blue states.

The top 5 are located in Blue States.

Based on the states that voted for Bush in the 2004 election, the number of people with post secondary degrees per capita.
Out of a 100 people, how many people will have a post secondary degree in:
Democratic Blue States: 1.28
Republican Red States: 1.05
Even within a tiny cross section of only 100 people, the blue states clearly have many more degrees per capita.

So my question is, why are democrats dumb enough to believe that the government can run things better than the private sector.

Regulate, don't operate.

Democrats also cling to the idiotic notion that political will and desire trumps reality;
As in a group that has bankrupted medicare, social security and their own pension funds should now be trusted to run healthcare. A group that promotes sanctuary city policies that encourage hoards of uneducated labor class immigrants to flock in and bankrupt hospitals, clog prisons and dumb down the school system should be trusted to close charter schools and release 40,000 inmates into the general population with a miserable work environment and failing social services. A group that offers " cash for clunkers " that denies their own lower class constituents the ability to pay cash for a cheap used vehicle. Never mind that the scrap is being sold at a subsidized rate to China to bribe them from getting pissed about their 1-2 trillion dollar holdings  losing value.

A group that can believe a man who sits in a church for twenty years hearing " goddamn America " will not have his views shaped in a negative manner.

For all the documented intelligence, how can these people be so dumb?

i get it that 9mm's out, but .38? .357? i've been saving brass, time to buy a press.

as far as the topic; which ever label the politico's wear, it's their self-interest to do so. the label's that the voting public wear, it's because they bought what ever bill of goods the politicos sold them.

i never miss a local election. they are the important ones, and usually people running for dog catcher, school board, whatever don't have a label on them.

College + real world experience > real world experience.
I go to college and I still say real world experience is better, it's just that some employers like to see that shiny diploma in your résumé.

College + real world experience > real world experience.
I am finding this to be true from an employer standpoint. I am being professionally hurt since I do not have much college. Promotions that were traditionally exempt from college requirements, now are a must.

the same for technical fields as well. certifications once ruled, got overused, so now diploma + certs + experience.
lowing, you could always put on your resume that online forums you're a master-debater.

True.  But, I think in his case, he just went to college you know.  Lot's of people are in college and think that automatically means they are smart.

First of all, I think it's false to assume that Democrats are smarter than Republicans on average.

I think neither party is more intelligent overall, because the majority of each party is made up of average everyday people.

Second, it's equally as dumb to assume that the market can run everything better as it is to assume the government can.  Sometimes, the government is better, sometimes the market is better.

Third, it's not just Democrats that assume political will trumps reality.  Look at the War on Drugs and the War on Terror.

So, take a step back and realize that both parties have their pros and cons.
