He is a legend since he is not forgotten in history and people still talk about hm to this day.
His songs get some air time on the radio. Legend he is.

Bob Marley is fucking essential.
wtf are you on about. Bobby is one of the very few all time greats.
Lemme guess. You've only heard that best of record haven't you.

Personally, I think all 'legendary' music artists/acts are overrated.
They're still just people. Not gods.
However, I still think Bob Marley is fucking awesome.
I have a poster of him in my room.
I just realized I have a Bob Marley clock on my wall. Dis one:
I need around tree fiddy.
He brought reggae to the rest of the world. I mean, when people think reggae, they go "bob marley...dredlocks...weed"

Don't forget he was a UN Peace Medal winner, the most recognizable figure to the 3rd world at one time, helped unite the disparate politcal factions in Jamaica, played a sold out concert for the unification of Zimbabwe, etc. He was more than a musician.aimless wrote:

He also had a bunch of children by a bunch of different wives. Damian Marley was born to a former Miss Jamaica that Bob knocked up.
Some of my faves:
Small Axe
Crazy Baldheads
Zimbabwe
Bad Card
Africa Unite
Iron Lion Zion
Kaya
Positive Vibrations
War (transliterated from a speech by Haile Sellassie to the UN General Assembly)
Johnny Was
Smile Jamaica
When I was big into procuring music online I had the fortune of downloading about 200 live concert albums. I've still got them archived. His best ones were his last show in Pittsburgh, a show in Santa Cruz, and the Zimbabwe Liberation Concert.
Good stuff. The man is legend. Just because 20-something college kids with pooka shells around their neck bump Legend and smoke herb doesn't mean the guy was a talentless hack.
I've never even heard anything by him, heard of him, never bothered to look/listen.
Not to mention his offspring made kick ass music ...

Love and Inity
More Justice
It Was Written
Those (along with Welcome to Jamrock) are his best tracks. It Was Written is pretty hard and it's got a pretty sick chorus from Capleton.
