what difficulty level are you guys playing?

Medium, but its not really a challenge. Mostly du to crappy AI.
I would also like to know who developed the fucking save system in this game. What manner of game is this that in the 2010s you are forced to rely on arbitrarily placed checkpoints.
EDIT: Basically, the only good thing about this game is the music, which you don't really get to enjoy unless you're sitting in a car or building for a long time, which is boring as fuck since there's nothing to see by driving around.

ba dum tish
Well, I had to restart the mission where you shadow this guy to the slaughterhouse three times because the idiot crashed into someone else and then just gave up driving all together. "Blabla hasn´t reached his destination." The stupid fuck.Sup wrote:

Oh and 100% way to make people crash into you: stand at the end of a line on a red light and when the next cars come, back up just half a meter. Turns the intersection into a scrapyard in no time.

So the AI is good, yeah?
I've not really had a problem with the AI, as you can avoid other cars with ease usually, although I have had problems with my allies running straight into walls and I'm stuck at a point due to a bug that's not allowing me to open a door
Spoiler (highlight to read):
More specifically, to repay Bruno. I've got the fucking money, but I'm not getting the option to get into his place

that's my next mission. I've taken out Derek and now all I need to do is collect all the money and not die before I hand it over him..will report backDesertFox- wrote:

Well, I tried getting to Spoiler (highlight to read):
Harry before the Red Dragon,
but Joe just couldn´t stop shooting at cops, so I decided that I carried enough firepower anyways...

I got it to work for me by just restarting the chapter, so it was only a minor inconvenience, but this game is so inferior to the GTA series. Basically the only missions you've got are the storyline ones, and there's only 2 ways to make money besides those (robbery/car crushing). They introduce characters who you only really use for the one mission in which they are introduced (Guisseppe, Harry, Bruski). They let you upgrade your cars, but fail offer anything to do with them, because it's not really hard to get rid of the cops unless your in a fucking bus anyway. Otherwise you can drive around and marvel at how little there is to see and do in such a large map. This game just feels like a stripped out GTA wanna-be. Son, I am disappoint.
The bus in GTA was actually one of the best vehicles to get away from cops. I'd put the patriot at the top, it takes like what, a 5mph crash into the side of a police car to flip it over with no added wanted level?DesertFox- wrote:

After the reviews here I won't be trying Mafia2. Thanks bf2s, I trust in you.
Try it jord! It´s actually a really good game. It´s a pity it always gets compared to GTA when it really isn´t in the same genre. Its a linear, very story oriented 3rd person shooter without the tube design levels they usually come with (See Mass Effect).
But the story is really nice, well told and entertaining. The world they created is neat.
It sure has its flaws. Graphics are a bit to blurry for my tastes, AI is crap, there are lose ends to story charcters (which might be filled later by DLC) and aiming is typically consol-ey.
But Mafia has always been about a strong storyline with the little freedom/exploration gameplay extras (see the Lucas Bertone missions in the first), awesome characters and well designed missions. Not about running wild in the city and blowing shit up with a rocketlauncher or chopper.
Oh and btw: The end made me really sad. I know it´s just business and it´s kinda open, but still. A dirty business.

So is this any good? I've heard from a couple of sources it's a lot less console orientated than most other games out today.
I certainly do. Gonna give it a go.
I'll give this one a go once it hits the budget bin, like bioshock 2
This. It´s still pretty console-ey though. But well playable with m+kb.Sup wrote:

Its not worth 40€ but worth playing through the missions if you get my drift
