I'm all confused so what I want to know is : How old do you have to be to own a gun in NJ? I heard it is 21 and you have to apply for a permit before you buy one then apply for another permit to own the said gun you want to buy. So does anyone know anything about gun law here. I'm 19 by the way. So anyone have any ideas?
I don't know about NJ. In NY you have to be 18 to buy a shotgun or rifle, 16 to own one. Not 100% on pistol rules. Anywho, laws are probably pretty similar in NJ.

I believe its 18 to own a rifle or shotgun. No permit required.
It's federally 21 to own a pistol. And certainly NJ would require a permit.
Call your local gander mountain or dicks sporting goods. Ask them. Then get your local paper or craigslist and buy a shotty or rifle.

Eh googling all the gun laws and noticed something; it would be for me, easier to get a gun illegally then legally. I could get a pistol for $200 tonight illegally or for $400 after waiting a month to get my permits and such.
Am I the only one who sees a problem with that?

Sure I could go out and murder an entire family with a lead pipe for a BMW but I don't want to risk going to jail for it so I'm going to earn one.
