I don't think it takes much balls. I think I needed more balls and practice to land a decent coleman slide at the time I posted that bit. Now I do. If by "balls" you mean doing stuff that can results in serious injury, then yes, I've done that too. E.g bombing a hill at 30+ mph with no knowledge of traffic in upcoming intersections is one thing that I've done, but it's not really my cup of tea. Sliding and drifting in a more controlled environment is. The worst thing that can happen is road rash and other bruising.

I think there's quite a huge difference between what professional athletes can do that requires balls, and what some video game nerds can do.

This came in the mail yesterday. Now all I have to do is attempt to run it in (wheels and bushings) as well as get an overall feel for the board by Thursday which is the registration deadline for a race on Saturday.

It was a wet race and I wiped out in my second heat of 4, finishing 3rd and therefore eliminated, ending up somewhere in the 26th-28th area of 34 tot. racers.

I still see that corner in front of me where I wiped out, and I know exactly how I should've played it (we were in a tight group of three entering the corner and I just pushed it too far and lost all grip), but still pretty OK for my first ever race. It was terrific fun too. But I wish it would've been on dry tarmac, more speed. Now it was tip-toeing in every corner on the edge of losing grip constantly.
