Its a security risk, at least here in the US... who knows what you could be packing by wearing shit like that
questioned probably... arrested or fined probably not. Unless there was intent to cause social unrest or chaos.
Cant remember where I read it... maybe its a state law or just a city thing but somewhere I heard that if you wear any kind of mask (at least in areas where theres a lot of people) you'd get in trouble

I used to airsoft with some people... so we were always on the lookout for that kinda info (for safety and watnot)

France is some 'Islamic country' now? If they don't want to wear it there is NOTHING making them, but if they do you are banning someones free choice on the most flimsy of excuses.

At least come up with a decent reason like security or something. Banning because its 'degrading for women' is like banning bright red lipstick cause it makes you look like a whore, they wear it by choice of their own freewill for fucks sake.
Ok, how about the real reason? France, like the US, is not the fucking Middle East, if you want a Middle Eastern culture then move your ass to the Middle East. Does that work for ya?

How was my PC, too much?
France like the US is a multicultural country, if you can't accept that immigrants may still want to honour, remember and celebrate their ancestors and origins, maybe you should not live there.

Great video... Hard to argue with his logic...
"I would like to see the men wear these burqa's in the middle of the summer..."
this cunt's logic is as twisted as his words. He starts off by saying that the burqa has nothing to do with Islam but still end up blaming Islam.
He blames orthodox Islam, since the more orthodox Muslims cling to primitive pre-Islamic traditions that oppress women.

He doesn't have a problem with reform Muslims or liberal Muslims, and neither do I.

Generally speaking, orthodox members of any religion are a problem for modern, Western society, because their rigidity of thought slows the process of cultural progress.

Now, I would like to clarify that Condell's logic doesn't work in America, because we are based on religious freedom.  In this country, you can wear the burqa all you like, regardless of how backwards and primitive the practice is.  However, France is not specifically based on religious freedom, so if they want to ban this burqa because of security or health concerns, they are free to do so.

Why? Are nuns a threat to France's identity as a Christian based nation?

No, but that's not why they are banning the Burqa...

Fuck being based on Christianity btw, why can't we drag up our old pre-Christianity pagan traditions? Or even the pre-Catholicism 'heretical' Christianity.

past tense perhaps, compared to current events?

I read the stated reason, however, I am sure the fact that no one outside an Islamic country wants to live in an Islamic society, in their own country, places a part.

Possibly, but what do France ban next? That knife the Sikhs wear, because it could be classed as a weapon?

Funny how the West is purportedly are all about freedom and democracy, but you can't go around wearing a burqa if you want.

I'm not against the ban itself, and I can see reasons for it, but I don't like the path it leads down.

I have admitted to falling into this paradox, however, I am forced to stand by my opinion  given the current events regarding Islam. It sucks, and I do not want it in western society. Put it in the same catergory as saggers if you wish.

Hey, I like France, but everybody is hypocritical about something.

I would agree that they'd need to ban the nun bullshit too to be consistent, but obviously, that's not gonna happen.

What next? A ban on trousers or perhaps mandatory wearing of makeup for all women? Where do Governments get off thinking they can tell the people who pay their wages what they can or can't wear?

Headwear that fully covers the face should be banned only in matters of security e.g. when entering banks and so on, other than that people should be allowed to wear what they want.

That is a sensible idea, at least France is not killing them for wearing/not wearing it or anything.

I'm not a huge fan of France, but they are not that nearly on the same level as most ME countries.

France is a free society and Burqas represent a lack of freedom... How many women do you think would actually wear these if they really didn't have too?  I mean if they didn't have to worry about getting a beat down from their 7th century husbands...?   Not too many.

If the women had no fear of reprisal and still wanted to wear the burqa than they would be free to wear them(other than security issues)
I doubt Sarcozi hates the burqa garment... just what it represents... Keeping women in their place...
