So it's cool to call Obamas kids names and say his wife has the build of a lesbian bodybuilder...? Just checking
Sarah Palin isn't worried about what David Letterman(has been) has to say about her... She is concerned that he is able to make a joke about a pro baseball player having sex with either of her daughters...
If he made a joke about my niece like that i would punch him in his fucking face... I hope you all would be just as angry regardless of
your political leanings...
Yes, I would be pissed, but I wouldn't be calling for him to get fired. Not that it will happen, anyway. David Letterman OWNS the production company that produces his show. The only way to get him fired is to get the Network to ditch him, and that is not likely to happen.
So, I am guessing that no one here even cares that he admitted the joke was in bad taste, and that he appologized for it last week?
I don't want him fired... haven't watched his show in years like a lot of other people... he used to be funny...
and his apology was half ass... this story will go away but the fact remains... he crossed the line...
Sure he did; comedians cross the line all the time. Remember the one who joked that she wished Limbaugh would die? Mixing politics and humor is dangerous, especially given how bitter or protective people can be. In our current, polarized climate, political jokes are both very easy to come by, and so charged that they gain be overblown.
Comedians are about the only people nowadays who can get away with the REALLY politically incorrect, racially charged, or sexist joke. And I think that is a good thing. I think that style of comedy is needed to give us an internal barometer of how far
IS too far in a society where we all almost afraid to say anything that can be taken the wrong way.
So, conservatives; back up, re-engage your sense of humor. Liberals; don't forget that, not too long ago, you were all over-reacting to jokes being poked at Obama, screaming racism for the silliest of comments. It goes both ways.
If you are offended because you are a parent... ok, I got nothing for you. Do what you feel is right.
That is just my opinion; I reserve the right to be wrong at any time.
