It's a decent analogy actually, the only problem being that North Korea has nowhere near the power that Germany had.
After WWI germany had zero power. There was a great depression not long after. Hitler was considered a saviour only because of how badly the post WWI era had been for Germany.
They ramped up their military capabilities considerably though. NK probably has 10 nukes and a horse-drawn tank.
It is the height of hubris to automatically denounce the capabilities of a potential adversary.  North Korea Military Guide.  Automatic dismissal may work in the political arena, but it is almost always a mistake militarally to simply assume you will easily prevail.  North Korea has spent more than the last 50 years preparing for a fight with South Korea and the US. We have to assume that they got something right.

Personally, I think that a fight with North Korea would be a much more serious undertaking than it was with Iraq (either time).

EDIT: After all, they aren't spending money on lights, are they?
(North Korea at night, circa 2002 (or 2005, can't remember)

If NK makes a move I would think China would be one of the first to step in to sort them out. NK has been trying ole China's patience for some time I believe.

Has anyone thought of what would happen exactly if a war were to occur?  I mean could we destroy all their launch pads for their nuclear missiles before they had a chance to use them?

How many missiles could they shoot into South Korea or Japan before we got our missile defense systems in place?  Are they are in place now?

What about evacuation plans?

The aftermath too...what will China say when the United States gives Nuclear arms to South Korea and Japan...I would think it would be the equivalent of our Bay of Pigs???

If there was a conventional war against North Korea I would think alot of refugees would stream into China...and China wouldn't like that.

Questions...so many questions...
Yeah, if any war does happen. No matter what, it would be quite big. There's no way a war like this could be "won" in the way that the wars were against Iraq's military in 2003 and the Taliban when they were government in 2001, both of which lasted like less than a month and hardly any coalition losses. Whereas this....it would be a different story...

Not saying that it's impossible to take out North Korea, just that alot of sacrifices would be made that would probably make the past decade of low level conflict in the Middle East seem like nothing

That's my take on it...

Well considering that the last 50 years or so North Korea has essentially been fortifying itself, a conventional ground air etc attack would be incredibly costly. Whats their air force like?

No I think this will be solved with tactical missiles and the like. Going to be a range war

Here is the wiki on the NK Airforce... 1200-1500 planes of various types...
mig-23s and mig-29s look like their best planes...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_People's_Air_Force

and North Korea is number 20 on the world military strength scale... right behind Mexico...
with South Korea in 12th place...

But do they have trained pilots?  France arguably had some of the world's best planes in WWII but didn't have the pilots to fly them.

BF:K would be a weird one given the war hasn't technically ended.  On one hand they could have a bunch of levels with Shermans, Thompsons etc, and some of the other levels would have F22s, Abrams & M4s...

And it would be hard telling the difference between North and South Koreans and everyone would TK each other, how did they do it in real life...

it's boring tbh. isn't obama busy enough already killing goat herding civilians? seeing these two 'face off' in the news every day is like being lain in bed with cramp watching old documentaries about the cold war after eating far too much pie.
